I'm downstairs cooking (friday) Thanksgiving dinner and Kristie is upstairs watching football on the plasma.

So I'm downstairs cooking breakfast, and she's upstairs watching football on the plasma again!

You're probably in violation of some Man Law, but my dad was the cook in my family so I got no problems with that. However, I'll be damned if my wife (if I ever get married) is watching football before I am! :D

Speaking of plasma's...I'm getting ticked off. I would say half the shows I watch arent broadcast in HD yet. So I get the black/grey bars on either side of the screen. (My Samsung doesn't allow for "stretching" the image to fit the screen) Well I'm starting to see some "burn" where the bars end and the picture begins. I have burn protection on, but I still see a slight burn. I used the burn reversal screens to clear it up, but you can still see some of it. I think I really screwed up getting the plasma, shouldve went with the LCD. You can only see the burn in very light scenes, but jeez I spent $2400 on a TV it shouldn't have a problem. Is there anything else I can do?

You had me a bit worried with the title of this thread...........

Glad to hear it was just about cooking & football!

Me, I love football. With our great room/kitchen setup, we have a really BIG 'hole' in the wall between the great room and the kitchen, so I can totally see & hear the TV while I cook. It's a beautiful thing.

Lol...you know that your a housewife! Just not of the desperate variety. And Kristie is so cool total tom boy. If I had a wife I'd hope for that type.

FWIW, that's widescreen, not HD. A show can be in HD but not widescreen and vice versa....

Yeah I know...but its the burn I'm worried about. Most shows in HD are also widescreen. But most non-HD shows are in 4:3 format, which causes the bars on each side of the screen.

We've had Cox-HD for about a year.

Don't let the salemen fool you, the amount (and quality) of available HD content is very limited.

They're nice to have, but in a lot of areas, the amount of available content is laughable.

HD really only matters if you're a sports fan. It's *amazing* for watching sports on. Other than that, do you really care if your Jeopardy clues are crisper than they used to be? :)

(maybe movies too, uhono, I can't sit still that long)

Here I thought someone was getting the BIG snip.... :D Then I read this and think why in the world .....Ah heck, I get it, the title is about the post......

Anyhow Doug, It's o.k. to cook a good meal. Just tell us you're not in the kitchen with a house dress on and some fuzzy slippers and we'll be o.k. :insane:
