Went to MD with complaint of long term nausea, referred for Barium swallow stomach xray and upper abdominal ultrasound. Barium xray came out fine, nothing there, but ultrasound found "several tiny non-shadowed gallstones" in gall bladder (from radiologist report).

Had a consult with a surgeon for gall bladder removal on recommendation from my GP MD but have not scheduled any laparoscopic surgery yet. The nausea wasn't real bad just in the background and went on for a month on and off is why I went in the first place. It has since resolved and I feel pretty good. At no time did I or have I had any of the classical "gall bladder attack" symptoms (pain after meal, etc)

Question: Will existence of gallstones as a diagnosis hold up getting a class 3 medical renewed, i.e. will the AME say I have to have the gallbladder removed and come back once healed up, before he'll sign?
 
It should not hold up the medical but if I were you I would schedule the surgery. If you are on a flight and have a gall bladder attack, you may not be safe and it can be very incapacitating.

:yeahthat: It hurts BAD! I thought I was having a heart attack. And although it's uncomfortable, as all surgeries are, it is a very easy surgery to recover from. It only took me about 3 days and I was back at work.
 
I agree with the good doc get you gallstones removed. I had really bad gallbladder attacks, and I'll be the first to tell you they are not fun. As already mentioned the surgery is easy to recover from 2-3 days and you'll be back on your feet.
