Dulles would be a better option because you would be able to use the lanes on the toll road that are for airport traffic. However, at a certain point, you will be stuck on I-66, with its pain in the ass traffic. Manassas is further away, so you deal with more traffic.

I don't know about driving from Maryland airport. I've only flown into there, so I have no clue about the roads. But traffic in that part of Maryland often gets backed up pretty badly.

Until they go broke from spending their money like idiots . . . lol.

I've known people with tons of money and private planes stop and pick up pizza on their way to the airport to save a few dollars.

Yeah, going out to vegas twice a month is fun until you try to pay for the gas and 5 different credit cards get declined, then the plane goes out of phase inspection, and sits for a year.

Some of the richest people I know are some of the cheapest. They realize they didn't get rich by spending every dime they made. Those are the people who made their own money.

Now, the ones who didn't, they can burn it like you can only imagine.
 
Just in case anyone else wants to do this, we ended up going to Maryland Airport (2W5), rented a car for $25 (for a day and a half!) from the FBO, and it was only about a 25-minute drive to downtown, no traffic.

There was an $8 overnight fee for the "parking", which was mangled rope tiedowns anchored by old tires on a bumpy sod lot surrounded by dessicated 1950s models, and the UNICOM operator was an 80-year-old guy who had a HUGE southern accent. Fun!

I agree, we use Subway for catering. But if you pay thousands of dollars to fly to DC you do not waist time on the subway to get where you are going. Our goal is to get our people out the site and back. That makes them available to work another day. Our airplane is a business tool and we use it that way.
