Fun GPS waypoints

REDDD, TAILL and ANGLS on the GPS 31 into Moton field down in Tuskegee are pretty cool, as are BENJM and DAVISS coming into 13.

Closer to home there are bunch of fun ones.

KGEEE on the TWOLF arrival into MSP (too bad K.G. is in Boston now.) which also features TICKT as well as GDNEE and PIKKL, after local favorite Gedney Pickles.

VYKES, SKETR (mosquitos are the state bird of Minnesota), WILDD, ZMBNI (Zamboni, hockey is big here), WLSTN (after our dear departed senator) and JAMEZ, OBERR, SSTAR after one of our congressmen who is a big aviation guy.

LORDY is one of my favorites. It's the FAF going into Buffalo, MN and is right over a big ol' church. Very clever.

I always wondered why it was named LORDY. After teaching the approach, oh, maybe 100 times I looked down one day bored out of my mind, saw the church and cracked up.

Then there's the HOPPEY NDB going into STP, named after my pal Vern Hopson who was a Tuskegee Airman and long-time tower controller there.

And yes, I do have too much time on my hands. :)

Here's a bunch of humorous airports, fixes, etc. I collected from a similar thread a while back.

I heard that was over Ted Kennedy's house.

In reference to the DRUNK GPS waypoint on the boston approach plate:

Well, I dont know who's house it is, but it is the white house on the north end of the circle by the red-roofed house (the coordinates are right on the center of the roof when viewed in Google earth):

And from this website(http://www.wickedlocal.com/marshfield/news/police_and_fire/x1621255470/Police-log-Jan-12-to-18): "1:54 a.m. Calypso Lane, disturbance"
And stranger still: http://www.sportfishermen.com/tournaments/info/4699/

OK, that's all i could find in 10 minutes

I've heard of Crazy Woman VOR before, but I didn't know "DEBBI" and "JENNE" are just northeast of it!<O:p</O:p
I picture a recently divorced man -- "You may have gotten the house, car, and boat, but from now on, pilots will report DEBBI inbound to Crazy Woman!"

On the old RIICE arrival into IAH there were two fixes in sequence, MILLR and LYYTE but on the RIICE TWO they took out MILLR (probably because of a certain airplane type's FMS).

Dont forget ADVLL, after the miller lite.

I always get a laugh over the FL panhandle when i fly over INBRD and MULET.

Also, FUBRR has the be the most appropriately named fix on any arrival into the NY area.

DAWGS and UGAAA near the University of Georgia

Also Jager intersection on L25 by CMI VORTAC

Actually, almost all of the RNAV departure procedures around Atlanta are sports related. BRAVS5, JCKTS5, GEETK5, THRSR5, DOOLY4, MUNSN4, etc...

The name for Crazy Woman Creek is from an old legend, way before the wright brothers.
