Furloughed Again !!!

Well, I can't believe it. I was just furloughed 3 hours before the begining of my rotation. Talk about short notice, I am so mad and frustrated right words can't describe it. This furlough can only a couple week after the company issued a memo stating they would not be furloughing.

There is also a rumor they may still want us to attend our normal sim and recurrent training sessions while furloughed. I am of the mind set that if I am not being paid and "furloughed" then why to I have to attend? Can they legally fire me for not attending?

Didn't you just start (or about to start at this gig?). Monkey balls I tell you. I think I may have mentioned it before, but check out Champion Air...I know that are looking for SO still.

I would call the MI DOL and ask. No one can require you to attend mandatory training unpaid. You need to protect your unemployment rights. And you need to get your resume to me ASAP!

Did you get a WARN letter? I didn't get one for my first furlough, but that was allowed to slide because of 9/11. I did get one for my second furlough. I forget now what the requirements are, but they are supposed to give you some warning!

Yikes though, I thought the 1 week notice I got in Sept of 2001 was bad.... 3 hours?! OMG.

While you're officially on furlough, you are not an employee of the company. As a non-employee, there's no way they can demand of you to attend company training, and then not pay you for it! If you're not yet officially furloughed, then they can. But, they would then have to pay you!

I'm sorry, man. I'm really sorry. BTDT, twice.

IT is on the way...let me know if you don't have it. I just sent it from another account...

Thank you...

I have a meeting tomorrow with the company to pick up my furlough letter and get questions answered.

I am still pretty ticked that this came on the heals of the we are not going to furlough you memo so this was totally out of the blue...

ouch! i'm sorry man... who did you work with? I hope you'll fidn something else soon, especialyl if you have some hours!

My offer is still on the table for you, Eric. Call me if you want to pursue some options out on the west coast.

I know you want to stay around DTW. Any word on Spirit? They've been picking up our guys left and right over here.
