Full Time CFI Hours

^ Yep, that sounds about right for the average CFI at my flight school. 98% foreign students with training contracts/student visas so there's a lot of pressure to finish their training quick.

I didn't work at a place that did foriegn students, or a "pilot mill." I worked at two different schools, at two different airports.

Is 50-60 hours of time easy to attain at many of the smaller flight schools/FBO's? When I say smaller I mean like a 5-7 aircraft fleet

I worked at a smaller fbo, actually two small flight schools and only flew 40-60 hours a month at best, in the winter months bad weather months I only flew 20hr at the most. I am now working in Tulsa at a 141 school flying close to 100hrs.

How much money per month can you make at smaller schools during busier periods? Do many schools pay enough to live off of comfortably? I know a lot of that will probably depend on several things like location, number of students, whether it's part 61 or 141, etc.

What about larger schools? Do some schools pay on salary? I'm curious since I will be finishing my ratings in about 6 months and looking to instruct. Do many instructors relocate for CFI jobs? Is the pay attractive enough to prompt people to move for the job? I'm debating on instructing in my local area or moving somewhere else for an instructing job if it's busier and pays better

At the small Fbo that I worked at I didn't make enough money, barely paid my bills only 20k last year which is pathetic. On winter months I had a 3rd part time job. Depending on your location if you can find a a busy flight school that would be best, but don't be picky about your first Cfi job, build some experience the look for something better, that pays better too.

After doing a little research regarding the busiest flight schools (most flight hours) it appears the foreign contract schools are the busiest. It looks like top ones are Aeroism(FL), Transpac(AZ), and Sierra(CA). Would anyone care to add to or edit this list? I'm interested in finding the top schools that most consistently offer the highest amount of flight hours on average with the following ratings CFI, CFII, MEI.
