Fuel Discounts

I have a Phillips 66 credit card which gives me a 4% rebate on all fuel purchases at Phillips 66, Conoco and Union 76 be it AvGas or automobile fuel. Each month I have a credit on my bill for $30 to $45. I've loved having that card for the last 5 years and plan my fuel stops, driving and flying, where I get the rebate.

Now the bad news...

The last day of this month CitiBank is going to cancel the program and cancel all the credit cards.

Does anyone know of a program that a give a fuel discount like that? There is AirBoss but it cost money, doesn't work for auto fuel or at your home base.
 
AVfuel miiiight have something, but I dont think its a rewards credit card. BP might have something with their AIRbp and BP affiliations.
 
I am issued Avfuel (AvTrip points), Shell (shell Rewards), and Phillips (Phillips Rewards). Air boss is the only other one out there I know of that is commonly used. Overall I'd say go with shell since it's a major gas station as well.
 
We use everest fuel management.

Everest basically negotiates a price for fuel through the FBO you're going to and then you pay everest for however much fuel you took.

Some FBO's see this though and try to negotiate with you so they don't have to pay a flowage fee for everest. We went to S. Florida a couple weeks ago and the FBO knocked off $2.50/gal so they didn't have to go through everest. I'm sure that's an exception though.

I've heard that AvFuel is pretty good. BP has points and you can use it at BP gas stations, airports that have BP, etc. But me personally, I'm still kind of bitter about the whole gulf thing so I tend to avoid them.
 
AirBoss is the best I know of for 100LL. Most places are only .05c off per gallon but I have seen $1.00 off per gallon. I think it is $25 or $30 a year for the discount card and they have a credit card that will give better discounts. http://www.airnav.com/airboss/. A few FBO's give an AirBoss discount on Jet A. We have 1 trip a year in the Citation to MYF and Gibbs gives .20c off a gallon and that trip more than pays the annual fee. Mainly the our AirBoss discount card is used for our C340.

I do not know of any major contract fuel programs that give a discount for 100LL. I do know that Colt and the AvFuel contract fuel program do not give discounts for 100LL. AvFuel does have the program where whenever you get 5000 points you get a $50 US Treasury certicificate but flying a Belanca it will take a lot of fuel to get 5000 points. FBOs usally give 1-4 points a gallon, highest I have seen is 8 points per gallon.

That was looking good until I saw this:
*Certain restrictions may apply. Visa USA determines which transactions are classified as paid at the pump. Fuel purchases for airplanes and boats receive 1.00% cash back.

Another AirBoss fan here. In my case, the annual fee was primarily to support the folks at AirNav. But the card generally pays for itself the first or second time I use it.
 
So here's a question. I work for a 135 charter operator and the FBO at the airport we are based at is an AvFuel provider and they refuse to issue AvTrip points to us on our fuel purchases.

Now, the FBO is run by the Airport Authority and we have a deal worked out with them to purchase fuel at a cheaper rate then they advertise because we upload thousands of gallons each week since we are based there.

We have a self serve Jet A station right by our hanger and we upload it ourselves and then just log it and pay the FBO what we owe them. However, the FBO says they wont issue us any AvTrip points because we get a discount on our fuel purchase from them. They said they would only issue the points if we don't want the discount.

Obviously I want my points, because it's a lot that are going to waste. So any ideas, suggestions?

It's my understanding that the FBO actually pays for the points it gives out. If they are giving you a discount it makes sense that they won't give you points too.

I assumed that was the case. Which makes sense.

However, I have a buddy that works at the FBO and he said it doesn't cost the FBO anything to hand out the points.

So anyway, who knows.
