Allrigth. I'll take a look. Newegg is a good place to buy it right?

Yeah. Certainly shop around through. If its a close call price wise NewEgg has kick butt customer service so keep that In mind.

Could be worse Brian... I'm writing this on our main computer, a 400 MHz Intel Celeron with 160 MB/RAM, Windows 98, a 8 GB hard drive and a 12 GB hard drive, with a ATI All-In-Wonder 128 Pro video card. The computer in my bedroom is only a 300-odd MHz Pentium II with only about 48 MB/RAM. Yeah, I guess you could say I could stand to upgrade sometime soon...

I know there are many third party add-ons for FS9, but does anybody have a fav. that they wouldn't mind telling us about?

That computer has been ready for retirement! It wouldn't be too expensive to upgrade but with those specs you might as well buy a new system if you can.

I have the Flight1 DC-9. it's pretty sweet...haven't had it for long, so I'm still learning it.

It's a big improvement over the MS aircraft...alot of systems and such.

Yeah, but does it have a flap select-o-matic?

Some favorites of mine that are payware are from Dreamfleet, FSD, Carenado, Flight 1, Realair, and Eaglesoft. You won't be disappointed by any purchased from any of these guys.

If your not in the mood to pay, There are some sweet freeware planes out there. www.flightsim.com and www.avsim.com have everything you could possible want.

My current personal favorite airplane is the Aerostar made by FSD. www.fsd-international.com

Nice panel Lloyd! I was taking the takeoff lesson for the ATP with virtual Rod Machado and I figured out how I was taking off wrong. All I used to do was lineup, lower some flaps, and hit the TO/GA button. At VR I rotateed, then waited a bit a retracted gears and flaps. Turns out that I had to mess with autobrakes and all that stuff. Why is it that I have to put autobrake to "RTO" on takeoff?

I think it stands for Rejected Take off?
If I remember correctly it's to help stop the plane in the event of an aborted take off.

Doh... too slow.

[ QUOTE ]
"RTO" = rejected takeoff. Gotta be able to stop if you have an emergency prior to V1.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks. So if it's after V1 you have to proceed with the takeoff?

V1 is the takeoff decision speed. Basically, if a large multi-engine aircraft loses and engine before the aircraft reaches V1, the takeoff will be aborted.

If and engine fails AFTER V1, the takeoff will be continued, because there most likely will not be enough runway remaining to stop the aircraft.

It gets a whole lot more complicated than that, and these numbers vary greatly depending on the weight of the aircraft, airport conditions and (for 121 operators), individual runways at individual airports.

And density altitude. That's the biggie there. BTW, if anyone is curious you CAN do a go-around on one engine in a Seneca I in Florida. I was WAY high on a single engine approach the other day, so since we had the altitude and the other engine ready to go in case we kept sinking, we gave it a shot. Got a 500 FPM climb out of that one engine. I love that airplane. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have the PMDG 737 Series, and it is a excellent aircraft to fly. Almost everything is fully functional, along with the FMC, and all the displays. Here are some pictures:

A buddy of mine has that 737 thingy. It's pretty cool looking, but I just couldn't sit there in front of a computer like he does and monitor for 3 hours. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Geez, 17fps witht the PMDG 737! I get 15fps with the default cessna. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif
