FS04 vs. X-plane

I'm sure a good majority of you folks out here fly sims right? Well, could you please give me your opinions on the two. Which one is better than the other perhaps? I don't know what one to get.

FS9 totally! Just by looking at the screen shots from both Microsoft and X-Plane you should see the difference..But let me warn you FS9 needs a good computer with a good graphics card and lots of memory.

Actually, I would say only a small minority here are simmers. You might get better answers on a flight sim board.

Yep. Very few people flightsim here. If you do you have to keep it quiet so you don't get flamed. At least I get flamed for it. I would still say FS2004 A century of flight is better than X-Plane.

I have never played X-plane, but I do have FS2004 & it's pretty good and detailed. After a little while, you'll probably start becoming bored of it. Hey, if you're looking for something really cool to play, then head over to http://www.airlinesimulation.com/ . You can run your own airline, and really cool stuff. Check it out. They have two new versions of it coming out. v5.1 is for ME & 98 computers and A6 is for 2000 & XP computers.

I still mess around with the flight sim. I own both programs and I would push you towards FS9. X-Plane probably simulates flight dynamics better, but I can hardly tell the difference between the two programs in that regard. Also FS9 has gads more third party support and there are amazing third party aircraft that blow the doors off any default FS9 or all X-Plane aircraft.

Keep in mind you can’t learn much about flying with a computer flight sim. It is however excellent for learning and practicing instrument procedures in conjunction with real flight training.

Airline is a pretty fun game, but it can get addicting after a while.

But back on topic I haven't tried X-Plane but have FS02 and FS04 and have really enjoyed them. I agree that you really have to have a good computer for FS04 to work well, I learned that.

I'm a pretty hardcore simmer....I only fly Microsoft, though.

You'll probably find that many of the folks on here don't like flight simmers, so beware...

Sorry I didn't know people around here don't like simmers. I'll shut up about simming.

I play sometimes. Mostly just small ga stuff. Sometimes I try to put larger aircraft into aircraft carriers and stuff, but that's just to fool around.

I do 'play' flight sim. But the real cool stuff like the float planes and such. The jet aircraft aren't even close to the real thing.

I'll shoot approaches every once in a while on FS2002 to keep the procedures fresh in my head. Other than that, I just try to land strange airplanes on aircraft carriers, and crash into stuff.

How much does Airline cost? 60 bucks?

AIRLINE v5.1 which comes out this Monday is only about $40 in the U.S. It operates on 98, ME, 2000, & XP machines. AIRLINE 6 which hopefully will come out in the end of August should cost around $50-55 bucks in the U.S. Those are just the approximate prices. A6 is supposed to be more detailed than v5.1 and A6 only plays on 2000 and XP machines. You can check it out by going to the website.
