They're too busy running around with clipboards now, checking that we wear our personal reflective please don't run me over gear.

We had 3 ground damage incidents (plane pushed back in to a lav truck, and two planes hit by catering trucks) over the course of 2 days. There are SO many safety managers out on the ramp now, it's not even funny. No idea where they were or what they were doing before, but they are out there now, taking pictures of every ramp vehicle parked even so much as touching a safety line.

I had to laugh that we had 5 rampers all in blue vests greeting the FPO flight a couple days ago. Any other gate you are lucky to get two rampers slowly strolling over to marshal the plane in.

Long, long ago I had Parker on one of my flights from DCA to Charlotte. This was at the peak of the ramp being all messed up. Wouldn't you know as we cleared the runway there was a line all the way out to Echo but ground told us to go past everybody and call ramp, so we did. They cleared us directly to the hold line and then North Ramp cleared us right to our gate. There were aircraft holding all over the place and tons of planes on gates asking why they couldn't push. We pulled in to the gate (jetway of course) where there was a supervisor marshaling us in, along with about 20 rampers standing around waiting to get at the airplane.

Parker said thanks for the ride as he was getting off and commented on how quickly they'd gotten us parked and the jetway attached. I honestly tried not to laugh but totally failed.
 
I wished he would have broken a guitar so the captain could both be a "hero" and a "villain" in social media.
