Frontier and Avelo now also asking for hand outs

I am not sure anyone is ok with this.

The point is, we have socialist programs, and there are instances where things like universal medical care make sense. The crux of this is that those who crap on socialism and scream from the rooftops about the free market, then turn and want a handout when the free market speaks.

Spirit should absolutely dissolve and go away. Everything has been tried at this point. Multiple bankruptcies, restructuring, furloughs, changes, etc., and they are bleeding money at a breakneck pace. Avelo was first in line to be deportation airways, and now they want to win over bleeding hearts?
@derg has been spouting the virtues of concierge health care and no one is saying he's off his rocker. Is his health care unfair? If so, why? He's earned it, are you okay with that?

The only way I’d be ok with this is if the money goes straight to the employees as some kind of enhanced unemployment, and is paid for by taxes on the income class of the C-suite and above. As someone else said above, it’s absolutely nuts to consider printing hundreds of millions of dollars for management to set on fire and maybe help the shareholders a bit while the employees still get screwed in the end.
It will go directly to Citadel.

Many places with "socialist healthcare" also have a robust private system to supplement if needed.

Was having some wine-infused chats with our friend from Zurich and he said just that.

People gawk at the taxes in Switzerland, but if you look at the overall package of what he gets in terms of pension, healthcare, education and public services, we’re getting screwed here in the US.

“You just… went to college to study engineering… for nothing?”

I think I’ve proven though words and actions that I, in fact, am not “off my rocker” :)

Establishing and maintaining credibility... Try it sometime! :). It comes in handy when expressing potentially unpopular opinions.

Bingo. This sets a dangerous precedent. I said it before; the people that complain about socialism sure seem to want socialism - if for no other reason that to recoup their losses after buying up SAVE stock in 2022.

Um, SAVE shareholders were already wiped out. There is no recouping our losses.

Don’t get started on the scam that higher education is in this country.

Then it's not really socialism is it? Socialism is awesome if you're rich, wait that doesn't make any sense.
Sure, it is. You can have government-provided healthcare as a basis. It is fair game to have private, paid-for healthcare for those who want more than what the government offers. MOST countries with universal healthcare have this.

I never said you were off your rocker. I'm happy being unpopular in this crowd, one member said they don't want to share the air they breathe with me. We're not on the moon, take a couple more steps to the left and see if I give a turkey. I don't care about being popular, I've been an irreverent ass for most of my life. I got into fistfights with teachers in elementary, junior high and high schools and most of the time it was my fault, not always. My point was folks were pontificating about socialism and universal health care, I mentioned your recent posts and because you are their hero they got cranky. They've got your back, until they don't and they'll be in a perfect position to stab you. I'll still be here somewhere.

Is that better than the PPO your company offers?

I would say that basic single payer health care in most developed countries, when supplemented by buy up add ons (that in the aggregate cost considerably less than what I pay in taxes that would go to single payer plus what I pay for my PPO now) is equal to or considerably better than what I get stand alone through my PPO (at the same place @Inverted works).

Who exactly wants socialism? Is that what you want? Are you brave enough to stand up and say it? Are you willing to give up even more of your income and your quality of life for the greater good?

F- for reading comprehension. See below for A+ understanding of what I wrote.

I like how the argument is always “but you have to wait in other countries!” Which is laughable, because I usually have to wait here with private insurance. I’ve had doctors cancel morning of and go “does a month from now work?”
“Well, no, I made the appointment because I’m out of my prescription, but thanks…”
Or similarly “This feels weird, I should go get it looked at.”
“Next appointment is in 4 weeks.”
And then it doesn’t hurt anymore.

We fall down against most of those countries when measured by probably the only objective measure of health care effectiveness, which is life expectancy.
“Yeah but they have healthier food and better lifestyles!!!”
“Ok then let’s put a bunch of laws on junk food and make it easier and cheaper for people to eat healthier and stay active by building walkable neighborhoods, bike infrastructure, and less work for the same pay”
“NO THATS COMMUNISM I WILL DRIVE 2 HOURS A DAY TO WORK 60 HOUR WEEKS AND EAT MCDONALDS AND NEVER SEE ANYONE OUTSIDE OF MY HOUSE AND DIE YOUNGER JUST TO SPITE THOSE EUROS”
