Ah, yes. Weekend warfare at its finest. I still think foreign students are the best to listen to.

When I learned to fly, JAL still had a school in Napa and they had King Airs and Bonanzas all over the place. Many..."interesting" transmissions. One time a Bonanza was making calls for Tracy and I was the only plane in the pattern, looked everywhere, couldn't see him land once or get a hold of him. After a few laps in the pattern over a few minutes, he goes "Oh, I SO SORRY! I am at (other airport)! ATTENTION ALL, A BONANAZA IS IN THE PATTEN AT (airport). I hope you have a warm and joyous day in Tracy everyone! Bye!". All in extraordinarily broken English. I keyed the mic and laughed until I cried.

On a serious note, I really respect those guys, they have to learn a new language and move across the world for months to follow their dream, imagine if we had to do that. Gotta admire it regardless of the stories you hear.

This controller is always really chill. I wonder if she knows shes reaching aviation interwebz geeketry stardom?
 
Threads like this have inspired me to listen to the 'Interesting Recordings' section on LiveATC.net (http://www.liveatc.net/recordings.php). My goodness... we share the air with some of these folks? Some of them are positively scary! I'm thinking of stuff like this: http://www.liveatc.net/forums/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=9953.0;attach=6737 The controller was understandably incredibly pissed. The kid was screwed the second he entered this guy's airspace, and it didn't let up until after he left. I'd be tempted to go ahead an let ATC know I'd be avoiding that airspace until homeboy got it tied down.
 
ATC around the NYC area are some of the sharpest around. Some nights I'm baffled and amazed at how well they keep it all sorted out with a relatively calm demeanor. It ain't an easy task dealing with everything from the lost low time GA pilots to foreign carriers where English isn't there primary language. Not sure I'd want to get in a verbal sparring match with one either.....they excel in quick witted one liners that'll make you wish you had just kept your mouth shut! I've never been on the receiving end of one yet but I've heard enough to know better.

I'm pretty sure the light airplane "driver" in the audio will probably either have his *arse* saved or handed to him by one of these controllers some day! Carma.....
