Free time: Disc Golf in OKC

Hello people,

I was wondering if anyone down there plays Disc Golf (AKA: Frisbee Golf - Frolf) in their free time. If so, have you checked out the courses in OKC? I'm thinking of bringing a ton of extras to sell/lend/giveaway.

I made a quick map of the local Disc Golf courses. If you've never thrown a piece of plastic 300'+ your missing out!:rawk:

More info can be found @ www.pdga.com under courses.

I have heard that the Dolese Park is fairly decent (some in my husband's class do it at least weekly).

It definately sounds fun, I'll definately have to check it out once I get to OKC! Thanks for the great idea.

It's an awesome feeling when you through a flat piece of plastic really far and drop it just feet from where you wanted it.

Who knew?

And anyone can play... young/old, male/female, big/small.

Or a combination...

Just a bit of warning...i would try to stick to Dolese and Will Rogers. Woodson park is in a not so nice area. i used to deliver pizza to that area and I was never sure if I should leave the car running for a fast get away or take the keys with me so the car didn't get stolen.

I used to play disc golf in dolese park on a regular basis when I was in OKC for training. It is a a pretty nice course, be prepared to lose some discs though, lots of thick woods and and a pond to contend with.

I've been in OKC for about two months now and try and get out and play a least a couple times a week. As mentioned above, Woodson Park is a little sketchy and I probably wouldn't play the course if I wasn't with someone from the area who knew the layout. The holes are not marked very well and it is pretty easy to get turned around. All the holes are very flat and the course tends to be very repetative. There is a great disc golf community around this area, they do mini tournaments ($5 to play, $1 ace and $1 mulligans) on Saturdays at 11:30 at Will Rogers then 3:00 at Woodson Park, and on Sundays they do the tournament at 3:00 at Dolese Park. Both Dolese and Will Rogers are par three courses, but Dolese is definately the most challenging of the three courses. Will Rogers is a fairly short course which is good for beginners but still is a fun course to play for anyone. Let me know when you get out in the area we'll huck some plastic i'm always looking for people to play with.

I'm spoiled with all the disc-golf courses around the Chicagoland area. I will definitely be checking out these when I make it to OKC.

I'm know I'm semi-hijacking, but the OP title does start out 'Free Time:' :D

Are there any good lakes to go to around OKC or at least any cable parks? I'm a die hard when it comes to wakeboarding and being in OKC all summer long, it looks like I'll be missing out on it this summer unless there is a place to go around there.

Also, anyone else have a motorcycle with them in OKC?

This should solve the problem of corse layouts...

Looks like the OKC gov had somebody do up maps in autoCAD for all three courses.:rawk:

Anyone know of any ultimate frisbee out there? I play a lot in Georgia and should be in OKC in late April. If not I may have to finally break down and learn to throw golf discs. :laff:

I didn't know they actually had courses for freesbie golf, sweet. Just a little FYI.. You guys may already know this, but, OKC is home to the triple A Rangers baseball team. The Redhawks play downtown(bricktown) and it's only$5 to get in. Check for Thirsty Thursdays($2 beers).... :rawk:

I just played Will Rodgers and it was a great course. A lot more elevation changes than I expected.

If anyones interested in playing in the late afternoon (After 6:30-7:00) send me a PM. I have extra discs.
