Free-Lancing

Look, airport managers have a responsibility towards whatever is going on at their airport.
In my book that means they have the RIGHT to know what's going on.

Absolutely. Of course they have that right. And as a freelancer, I have nothing to hide. However, I don't have any responsibility to go check in with anybody before I start working somewhere.

If an airport manager came up to me as I was getting out of a plane and asked me what I was doing, I'd be completely open and honest with the fact that I was giving instruction. I don't have any desire to do things under the table, or somehow obscure my purpose for being there.

But that doesn't mean it's a good idea to, for all practical purposes, go up and say, "Hey, I'm a freelance instructor, would you like to sell me some office space I don't need, or make me buy insurance I don't have?" That's essentially what I'd be doing by making the first contact.

You need to work with them not against them

I'm not working against them! How does "not talking to them" somehow equal "working against them"? I want everybody to be a big happy family at the airport just as much as anyone else. I want to promote aviation, provide good quality instruction, etc.

I just think talking too much opens a can of worms that doesn't need to be opened.

just my opinion, I think we can drop it now.

Fair enough, just my opinion too, I'm done.
