After nearly 40 years in the industry and 20 years as a DPE, I opened my law practice back in Sept. '13. Emphasis is on aviation law and pilot defense. I can't provide direct legal advice on here but I will try to respond to inquiries with general - but pertinent - information whenever possible.

Very interesting!

What inspired your career change? I know of several pilots-turned-attorneys from the military.

It was a combination of factors. First, it was my original career plan when I started college (in the 70's :-/). But, I started flying when I was 16 and the next thing you know I was doing it for a living. Then along came my daughter. She went to law school and I found myself living vicariously through her. Finally, the downturn in the economy (2008 - 2009) created new opportunities for me (that's a nice way of saying, "business sucked"). Realizing that some of my greatest frustrations in this industry involved having to educate lawyers, bankers, accountants, and, yes, the occasional FAA inspector, I decided to combine my original legal ambitions with the experience I've gained in the industry. Speaking the language and having lived the life lets me save my aviation clients the "spool up" time they would likely have trying to educate an attorney who has no significant aviation background. So, ultimately, I honestly felt there was a need. And, believe I can make a difference - one client at a time.
