Former DAL Steve Dickson may head FAA

Which sector/freq(?) do you generally work?

120.15, 128.55, 119.2, 125.5, and 128.8 are the ones you’d talk to me one. Also 132.8 and 127.6 for anyone going to TEB/MMU/CDW

He can't tell you...unless you bring pizza like the SWA guys. I can confirm that was a thing at LA TRACON in da 90's. I can't say I actually ate the pizza, but I heard it was a thing...

Worked for @milleR

LIES!

Unless there was another elvae off TEB first and I had to get intrail.
It's all good. Either get direct 3 miles abeam the fix right when leveling at 6k or direct col, which is always fun to watch FOs level off, maintain 250 and turn at the same time, good test to see if they know what they're doing

I almost feel like I should make a PA and tell people that no we are indeed not lost, with the amount of vectors we get for that climb off the 4s

The problems with that route is we need 8 in Trail between White/White and Dixie/Dixie over Elvae. We are stuck climbing you (and departures from 3 other airports) to 6000 and if 124.75 (Liberty South, not EWR Sector) doesn’t climb anyone before elvae you’re stuck at 6 til COL under the LGA arrivals. Additionally, slow traffic going that way we are stuck at 5000, so if you’re off 22 and there’s a C182 heading to elvae at 5, I gotta vector you west til you’re above him, but not too far west cause the Philbo arrivals are there at 6. And then of course TEB and EWR towers love to launch you guys out of order so my preplanning all goes to waste.

I try to always tell you guys to expect dir COL in 5 or 6 miles if I have to drag you west but I know a lot of guys don’t warn you. Two ways to tell it’s me in departure is if you hear “expect direct col in 5 or 6 miles” and I’m one of the only ones who says “traffic will be lga arrivals at 7, contact departure 124.75”

As an aside, I was jumpseating on an AA flight out of Kona a few days ago to LAX. We taxied so slow to the runway I thought they had a flow time or maybe something was broke. I mean I'd have a hard time going that slow. Then I remembered I was on AA and I kinda laughed. We blocked in so early we had to wait for a gate, so I guess it was all good.
I fly AA and SWA for work. It’s pretty funny getting to see the stereotypes hold true!

Make New York Approach great again!

They’re draining the swamp by letting everyone retire and sending us hundreds of no experience hires to see what sticks. You guys will be hearing some interesting things over the freq starting within the next 6 months or so.
Cool! New regional pirates that have no idea what's going on, and new controllers, in some of the most congested airspace in the world!
Better just set up webcams at both ends of the runway for live streaming the go arounds

One dude descending into EWR the other week at 2am needs to go. Craaaaaanky. Though he did get us 4L so there's that.

I always laugh whenever the crew on my commute flights boast about “we are gonna get you to LAX early.”

“Not gon matter.”

Life after flying the line. Line pilot NWA friend goes to National ALPA in DC for eight years then becomes UAL executive retiring as SVP of Flt Ops.
Very cool. What does the career progression look like going from pilot to SVP of Flight Ops?

Was this guy a Delta exec when the privatization effort was happening? Delta was pretty much the only airline against it. This could be good.

Have a friend that went from line pilot at one major airline to National ALPA for eight years to retiring from a different major airline as SVP/Flt Ops.
Awesome - thanks for answering that.
