For you UPS people, and those interested in the company

Did you piss anyone off when you left?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope...just told them that it wasn't for me and that I wouldn't be back. Turnover at my facility was like 75% at the time.

Hey, DE727...quitting that sort facility won't hurt my chances at flying with the company, will it? As I understood it, the two entities are exactly that - two seperate entities.

Oh, but when they found out I flew, they tried to use that to make me a good follower....

I'm afraid you burned that bridge, Lloyd.

Doesn't matter though. You're married now........to AMERICA and the JC MILITARY!

I'm afraid UPS keeps detailed records of EVERYTHING you ever say or do while employed. I'll guarantee you that if you ever get another interview with them some company mole will pull out a dusty personal file with your name and prior life attached to it. They track EVERYTHING!

No problem there! I still don't regret quitting that job. If they hold that against me, then oh well...that was misery at it's worst (and I've known misery...).

I don't blame you! I probably would've quit long before you!

I've lost count how many times I've sat in the airplane watching the loaders load the airplane in all kinds of weather and at all hours of the day or night and wondered what motivates them to work here under those conditions. I'm sure the turnover rate is sky high!

I'm think most kids do it for the college money programs UPS offers (and they are pretty good) and the chance at future promotions within the company . I'm sure most middle aged folks do it part-time for the dental/medical bennies. Regardless of the motivation, it ain't easy work and my hat goes off to those that do it night after night.

The point I was making is that UPS is pretty anal about record keeping when it comes to personnel! They document every little thing. I looked at my personnel file one day and was surprised to discover the things they keep track of.

Why am I a pilot for UPS...because I'm too lazy to be a loader. It's too much like WORK!

In what city did you slave for them? Did you see if you could get a transfer (yes, I know, stop laughing) to another hub?

Gently placing packages on the belt helped me get through college, and being a p/t sup wasn't all that bad, though our Station Mgr was quite the •. Our sorters at the airport had life real easy, though the PHX and Tempe buildings in the summertime were rumored to be slightly warm.

Guess it really is all about location.

Nashville. I was a preloader, and it was horrible (did I get that point across??). I hear that some places aren't near as bad. Part of my problem was that I didn't *need* the money and the bennies....that kind of lowers your motivation...

I worked a belt at UPS in college (Tucson) over several months during the holidays and thought it was great. Everyone that I knew there worked hard and had fun doing it which made for an enjoyable atmosphere.
