For those who have seen the Triple Seven World Air Routes video with United, don't you think the Captain looks a little young? Maybe its just me, but he appears to be much younger than his first officers.

I think he was in the military. Throught the video he uses key words that (at least I think) a military person would use.

Thats my thoughts...

Great video, I wonder where is he now-a-days? Also I wonder were the FO is, if he got upgraded to a captain yet? The one aircraft they used, I believe on the return leg,. was sold to Varig Airlines.

I doubt he was in the mil, that would make him older when he got hired, and less likely to be 777 capt at a young age. He's most likely one of those guys that had rich parents, started PPL training at avery young age, soloed on his 16th birthday, PPL on his 17th, comm on his 18th...etc.

It doesn't matter what equipment he's on. When you're the Director of Operations (as far as I can tell) you can be trained on the equipment of your choice. You'd only be flying once a month or less, anyway. The DO at CAL flies maybe every couple of months and takes a check airman with him every time. He's a 777 Captain.

Just in case you're wondering. I checked my "List" and no, he's not.

How do you think he got to become a DO so quickly, it seems like it would take a lot of experience.

Not really. He could have a good management background and worked his way up as a management pilot (i.e., through the training department).

Yeah, and VARIG returned a few 777s, 757s, and 737s to Boeing in the last few weeks. Future not looking very good for them. Hopefully they won't follow VASP. If they do, TAM will have no other Brazilian competition for internation routes. For routes from the US to Brazil there is American, United, Us Air, Delta, Continental, and probably more.

For me, the best part of that video is how his demeanor changes the instant he starts his departure briefing. He gets ALL business very quickly. In fact, I've studied all of his briefings in the video and have somewhat modeled my own after his.
