A make-believe jet crash is the scenario being used for a drill Tuesday at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

The drill will run from 9 a.m. to noon and is being conducted by the Minneapolis Airports Commission, representatives of various airlines and metro area public safety and disaster relief officials.

Federal aviation regulators require that airport that serve commercial passengers conduct such drills every three years.

The made-up crash's details include a "Newton Airlines" jet on which "suspicious activity" has occurred.

Also, weather permitting, actual smoke will be used from an out-of-service DC-9 that is being used for the drill.
