-do a weight and balance before each flight

supercell86 said:-do not do a huge fuel calculation or preflight inspection....for the most part
supercell86 said:-have to worry about a bunch of different complex human factors up at flight level 390 or any flight level for that matter

Pushing buttons for one minute. Real hard.
Not sure what this is supposed to say about bus drivers OR pilots. Big freaking deal.
Seems to me that most bus drivers wear a uniform too.
Ha, half the pilots probably don't even understand the systems. The ones that do don't think it's that hard.
This MIGHT be the only valid point you have.
Huge fuel calculation: Does the fuel onboard equal the release fuel? That's the extent of the "huge fuel calculation". Preflight inspection? Wander around the airplane and make sure nothing is broken. Big freaking deal. BTW, bus drivers DO a "predrive" inspection.
Most pilots don't give it a second thought out on the line.
I'm not saying pilots are overpaid, or bus drivers are overpaid, but don't make it out to be something it's not. Flying an airplane is NOT hard.
Can't speak for anyone else, but how I feel about myself has nothing to do with what I do for a living. Flying airplanes is what I do, not what I am.supercell86 said:And then my BIGGER point is that you should learn to feel so much better about yourself if your a pilot....because thats all that matters, what you think of yourself, not what others think.....and i dunno bout you, but i would feel a hell of alot better knowing that i was a pilot than a bus driver.....but thats just me......its what you put into your life
supercell86 said:ill tell ya whats wrong with the picture......one person drives at approximatley sea level, at 60 mph, and the other flies Flight level 390, going mach .82
FYI- flying can be a bit more dangerous, just in case you havent figured it out.....
As you stated in your own post, people come to watch the planes. They don't come sit in front of the terminal and watch the pilots come and go. It is their interest in the machine, not the man that captures their attention.supercell86 said:you know, my buddy said to me today...."i went to the airport the other day to look at the planes...cars would come and go to watch the airplanes"

But largely, people want to complain to you about their frequent flyer status rather than bow to the epaulet god.
Chicks dig pilots, but they dig fighter pilots.

supercell86 said:totally disagree....whenever im out soemwhere and i say im a pilot, first people are like "wow, omg" and we start a huge convo over it.....always.....and not to mention people always tell me, yea i always look when i see a pilot....we goto hooters every wed. night (my flight team at my college) and its funny because the hooters girls always fight over who gets to serve us.....ok, im done, bring on the bashing people.....lol
