Any taken the new changed FOI written lately? Just curious if the New ASA 2012 study guide is good for it. Heard they changed it a while back then altered it again due to high failure rates...
 
Took the FOI last week. I used sheppard air and studied for only 3-4hrs and got an 86. I found that some questions had changed compared to sheppard which shocked me since they are constantly updating their question bank.
 
Take your time, some of the answers to the questions are answers to different questions and distractors have been moved from question to question. Some questions are even reworded to be the reverse of what is in the AKTG. I failed the FOI, my first and only written test I failed, and i only took 30 minutes to finish and i had 2 hours! The second time i took my time and carefully read each question and got a 96.
 
Thanks for the info. Ended up just studying from the ASA Flight Instructor Written book which covers both FIA and FOI. Got a 96. No surprise questions. All questions on the test were in the book.
