Flying time

Hello all,

I was wondering about, after you start the private pilot program, how many days is it until you get in the air and what is it that is taught to you on the first day? Do you do any sim time while in the Private Pilot Program? Lastly, when you combine the Private Pilot Program with the Airline Career Pilot Program, if you get 200 hours total, how much time is spent in the sim? What is the comparison of sim time to actual time? Thanks.

It's probably all on the website, but the short answer is:

Private Program:
85 hours Cessna 172, no sim.

Career Program:
137 hours Piper Seminole
3 hours Cessna Citation
10 hours Cessna 172
50 hours flight training device

I have no help on what happens in the private program. As for the sim time, you will log it in your logbook but you will not count it as total time or multiengine time. In other words, it counts for your instrument and commercial requirements but you aren't going to brag about it on your resumes in the future.

they'll fly you the first day if it's possible. but some people don't get to fly until the 3rd or 4th or even later due to schedule conflict. don't worry, just because you don't get to fly the first day doesn't mean your training will go down the drain. trust me, they'll fly you whenever they can and you have around 60hours of flying before your PSEL checkride, which is plenty.
