Flying Music? Suggestions Here!

I'm looking at all the songs people listen to in order to get pumped up before they fly, and I'm thinking to myself, um, am I the only one who really doesn't listen to a particular song and just listens to whatever is playing on the radio or in my CD when I'm driving to the airport?

Nope, I don't really listen to anything to get pumped to fly. Now, going to play hockey, different story! Definitely some Limp Bizkit-type stuff on order.

Actually, personally, I don't listen to anything there, either. The first hit gets me going!

If I were to pick a song for that, it would be Hell's Bells by AC/DC. Hey, man, if it's good enough for Trevor Hoffman, it's good enough for me.

Anything by Boyz 2 Men.

The thought of you flying single pilot IFR over the ocean from Korea back to the states listening to Boys 2 Men "I'll Make Love to You" just makes me want to die laughing!!!

I can't really say what music gets me excited to fly. I always did like United's Gershwin, "Rhapsody In Blue." I don't know why, but every time I hear it my spirits lift about work. Reminds me of being a kid, dreaming of being a pilot.

Is that the orchestrated United theme that always played on United t.v. commercials back in the 80's.
If so I loved that song. And hated when it went away.
When I sometimes hear it now like when I'm on hold with UA reservations takes me back to being a child and wanting to be a pilot also.

And here is my next question? If your flying and listening to music and have your headset on.Or even the intercom how can you hear ATC instructions.
Moreso tho with the headset on?

Sigh. Kids these days.

Seal's Fly Like an Eagle was a cover. For bonus points, and no answers from anyone over 25, who did the original?

thats easy: Steve Miller! (im only 21 too)

Has anyone seen the video for "Bird of Prey" by Fatboy Slim. It has some kind of british jet trainer as the subject. Pretty f'ing cool.

"Rhapsody in Blue" by Gershwin!

How can any airline pilot wanna be NOT know that song! :)

Just play the sound track to Iron Eagle. I here you can make up some good time on a flight by playing some tunes. It might even be better if you played the actual audio track of the movie.

"Jam to the tunes, cause you zoomin!"

1. Anything from the Temptations.
2. Tom Petty "Free Falling".
3. "Music Box Dancer" When your cruising at FL and see the sun peeking over the horizon.

When me and my friend go flying he has an extension for his CD player that plays music in his headphones but when ATC or anyone else talks it pauses the CD. Pretty cool how that works

Alot of airplanes are hard-wired for aux audio inputs. Usually, it's in the audio panel. The Garmin GMA 340 audio panel is an extremely popular audio panel with the newer Garmin set-ups. It's ready for an aux jack to be installed on the panel.

Mutes when there's convo on the ICS, or when there's a radio transmission. Sweet, eh?

Some headsets are also wired for an aux audio input.

I was on an approach to a confined space with lots and lots of trees the other day with Alice n Chains "We All Die Young" bumping through the IPOD.

We were listening to it on a cross country to WY. We forgot that it was on we were talking so much about the approach. It did get shut off just as we entered. I reread that post and it did sound bad. Shoulda reread it. Good looking out.
