Flying into DC

That's a nice little field. I think the gas at VKX is even cheaper though. :) The problem is the very short runway in the valley surrounded by trees. :)

That and you need a PIN....I really need to get mine and stop putting it off. But you do get to land on a runway with carrier markings if I remember right!

Yeah - it's worth getting. You can join the fuel club, too, which is great if you're paying for your own gas as opposed to renting at a wet rate. Fuel club is $18 a month.

And yes, the carrier markings are on RWY 24.

I did my Private at both airports 2W5 and VKX. Getting that pin is a hassle and takes forever! Plan on all day for sure to do it since the FSDO seems to get to you when they want. Flying into that airport is a blast especially in the fall when the crosswinds are unpredictable and crazy! To the original poster a King Air might be tough getting into VKX if it's larger than a 90. I have seen a Cessna 310 get there, that's the biggest. That's why I suggested 2W5, it is only maybe 10 miles from VKX and you don't need to hassle with the PIN code and FRZ training.
