Flying in sandals.. Opinion?

Bah, that's nothing compared to the T-37 in summertime in Columbus, Mississippi...in a chute, helmet, mask, gloves, etc.

At least in the Six you can fly -- again, man-style -- with the canopy open.

Yes, but one must sign up for a summer of hazing in the Tweet and be the best of the best.

The rest of us just throw cash at it, or are friends of friends (best case scenario) that throw cash at it.

I'm as lazy as they come. Wear flip-flops and shorts pretty much all year. Only shave when I work. The only place I I won't wear flip-flops is while flying, especially tail draggers. It's not a, "I might have to hike out type of thing", it's more of, "I don't trust them to stay in place if I really have to make rudder corrections". I don't doubt you can do it safely. I just don't trust my dumbs ass not to trip over my own two feet on the pedals. It just takes once for one to break or slip off the wrong way.

And seriously pleated pants? Please, for the love of god, if you have any in your closet burn them now. Big guy, or small guy, they don't look good. Ever. If your bigger, go a size or two up, flat fronts will look fine.

Awful advice. Stick to flying.

I'm personally not a fan of men in sandals at any time, in any situation.

Disclaimers: As they are your own toes, YMMV, whether flying, on the beach or trimming grass. I'm an old guy who grew up with old men in shorts sporting sandles with black socks -an ugly sight, if there ever was one. As an emergency responder, I'd simply note that lacerations, amputations, crush injuries and burns CAN happen to anyone. Sandals don't help. Plus, guys' toes are generally ugly as hell.

No really. This time you're wrong. They make you look bigger. They are not slimming and look like you crawled off the set of Wall St. (The original) wondering what decade it is. Burn them.

"1. Pants should never be pleated. Basically ever. Pleats are basically woman repellant, plus they make most men look bigger rather than slimmer. A flat-front pant (think most jeans and the suit pants worn on Esquire covers) will make trim guys look even trimmer, and help the average guy appear less schlumpy."

You're quoting the HuffPo? You make me laugh.

Pleats are classic. There is no worse advice on fashion than telling someone to wear a size or two too big. Always wear your size, and if you're big, wear pleats.

It's just one of many, many sites that say this. I didn't bold any of these. I agree when you say, if you're going to wear some thing, make it look good. Spend some coin on a tailored suit. Nice shoes, belt, and watch. But absolutely no pleats ever. Not any more. It's only classic if you're a runway model, even then it's suspect and generally only a single pleat, in some ironic way.

Edit to add: When I say a size or two to big, I mean correct size. Most guys won't admit they're not a 34-36 any more and won't upsize to a 38". Which is what they've needed for years.

"Pleated khakis are so over. Flat fronts are more flattering, even if you're overweight."

Stick with the surf dude attire. It's all you know, apparently.
Seriously, man. I know you put yourself out there as an authority on lots of stuff on JC, but this isn't one of them.

For the record, I'm currently wearing a tapered Banana Republic polo and straight leg jeans. I'm no style expert, but I assure you it's a lot better looking than pleated khakis for casual wear. :)

True nuf!
I contacted a promising TSTC student in building trades to finish it out. Looking forward to meeting him Friday morning.

But how much do you weigh? Don't weight shame Todd, it's not nice.
