Flying in Chicago

MarkE

Greetings, Professor Falken
So I'm heading to Chicago this weekend and I want to take my dad up for a flight. I don't really want to go through a checkout though cause chances are I won't be flying there again for some time. Is it possible to just take a short flight and have an instructor with us? Also can anyone recommend an FBO at DuPage? Thanks.

If you are going to fly out of DuPage look at Travel Express Aviation

Learn to fly or rent a plane with Travel Express Aviation

Nice small place with a great variety of aircraft, in good condition. Would avoid the place next door at all costs. Very poor mx.

Cool... you should check out Meigs Fie- oh wait, nevermind :(...

Yeah its a shame. I biked over there last weekend and some reminants are still threre. Sad to see a "dead" airport. That the runway was destroyed under the cover of darkness, 1930's city boss-style, w/out FAA approval, still makes many folks angry around here.

There's probably still enough room for a soft field landing, though. But it would be your FINAL approach. ;)

As far as DPA Travel express aviation is strictly a club and you would haveto join to fly. There is IAA at DPA;however Iwould stay far away. They have a few good clubs at DPA but like I said earlier you would have to join to fly. I know ARR,JOT, and PWK have good flight schools where you could take an instructor up with you and fly around.

Contact Jim Olivi (630)561-1859. He was my flight instructor at a club at DPA. He has other options available besides the club too I believe. No matter what he'll get you in the right direction.

Yea 2nd century is good I forgot about that one. It is run by Duane Werth, and the airplanes are maintained well by by retired Delta Mechanic.
