Hahaha...only 115 degrees. I laugh at that! Try 121 in Fallujah.

Now see.....That's why the Navy is much better......Same time period, different forecast onboard the <insert given carrier> in the Data Center.....currently circling in the Persian Gulf.

I tried making a solo cross country last week when the OAT was 44 C. I just couldnt get the damn engine to stop running rough, i knew it was cause of the heat but I havent flown the cirrius enough to know that for sure. Felt like an idiot taxing back from the run up area right past my instructor. DOH!

I was told in hot weather to pull the mixture back after startup, almost full rich for runup, and then reduced again for taxi. Just before entering runway full mixture for TO (this is the SR20). I havent seen a problem with it running rough.

Don't be afraid to return if you see/hear/feel a problem. Better to be on the ground wishing to be in the air, then in the air wishing to be on the ground!

This sounds very familiar. We messed with that mixture a lot. I thought that was the reason for the "coffee pot" sound at first. I was told to hold the mix lean until run-up and take off. We rotated it from lean to full during taxi hoping the engine would calm a bit. I dont think I will be doing a lot of flying this summer, it is just too hot out here lately for these older airplanes I have been flying and it gives me that un-easy feeling. I want to start looking for some newer aircraft to fly. Anyone know what they have at First Flight or West Air at VGT. Slushie? Im sure you know. Thanks

Oh that's nothing, I remember doing touch and go's at Durango, CO with a density altitude of over 10,000!

Jeezzz one time at Alamosa I don't remember what DA was, but afternoon in July Thank goodness for a turbo charged bonanza!

Hey, Sergeant - can't remember if I've asked you . . . what unit are you rollin' with over there?

I emailed you MTSU...i try to keep the particulars of military private somewhat. I do like to talk about the humorous stuff though like the temps and what not.

Max...i keep hearing this...what is pwned, and should i be sorry for doing it to you?

keep this in mind....i just learned what lol was a month ago.

Jep...i hear that, have to love the environmental control units

Complex..that is true, at a high density altitude airport you take off very lean just as you do when you climb to higher altitudes for max power. In your run up at max power, pull the mixture until the rpm's fall and then back in two and a half turns works for me, that way you are taking off with all the power the engine can make at that alt.
