And those RBs sound on start up is a thing of beauty. Freshly polished cowlings, plane ready to go if not for the hangup on fees.
That's my favorite thing about the Tristar

Interesting that it didn't occur to anybody that there would be storage fees due.
I think a former member here was involved with the board of that museum. The Kansas City Airline History Museum has always felt like a 'hobby' museum to me - a great idea that a few people joined and ran. They always seemed just one more cash donation away from being solvent. When they blew an engine on their Connie, they had to wait and do more fund-raising to replace it. I don't need an elderly docent showing me more 'hulks with hopes.'
As a long-time exec of not-for-profit organizations, this says to me that either they were run by a few true believers without the skills to develop sound, long-term funding, or they had a board that couldn't agree with setting goals and just squabbled. Their 'progress' seems slow, for such a good idea and in a very logical place with great airline history.
Disclaimer: I have no inside knowledge, have visited there only once. I'd love to be wrong! But maybe having two competing airline history organizations on the same field will (a.) stir up some competition to grow both organizations, and/or (b.) eventually lead to a merger into one stronger organization.
Best wishes to both!
There was a time when Saudia would let any officer with wings fly jump seat. Hell, they'd let you take a shift in the right seat. The L-1011, along with the DC-10, have.....by far....the most comfortable cockpit jumpseats of any airliner I've rode on.
Awesome! I will miss gawking at that L-1011 at the fence-line, standing right next to it with the fans spinning in the breeze. Good memories, glad she'll fly again soon.910TE has been towed over to the transit ramp by Delta Air Lines ground support personnel, in preparation for launch out.

Awesome. Just awesome.
