Flying for free...Don't do it.

Know what he told me? He told me he was proud of me for learning at a young age that if you're going to work for someone, you need to get paid for it.

. . .and if you work for someone and you DON'T get paid for it, I believe they call that "community service." :sarcasm:

Don't mind me, I'm clowning today. :bandit:

So, I have a question. . .strictly hypothetical mind you.

Would it be wrong to perform Angel Flights with other individual's airplanes in order to build multi hours?

This no 'fly for free' philosophy. Doesn't it extend to charity missions as well?

I googled 'unpaid interns' to find this in case the llink doesn't work.
Long story short, these college students are having to work free in all different types of firms cause they need experience to land jobs.

Technically it's not unpaid, they are getting college credit

Because they can. The only thing CT350 got going for them is because they have been around for a very long time and everyone knows about their web site.

It never stops...

Pay to look at jobs...

Pay to apply for a job with an airline...

Pay to enter a career fair...

Pay to view Interview Gouges...

What's next? Pay for background check? Drug test?
Don't give them any ideas. Soon they'll charge pilots a "service fee" to keep them on the call-back list when they get furloughed.

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say you get a free pass for angel flight:)

at that point you are not providing a free service to a for profit organization/ person. You are donating your time/ skills to help those in need. I assume someone complaining about angle flights would be like a medical dr. Complaining about Dr's going to help out in Haiti undercutting the profession.

There is a big difference between flying for free and doing pro bono work. :)

about ready to move to costa rica permanently!

I love Costa Rica, but now it's kind of late to invest there, prices have gone up like 300%, when I first went there you were able to buy water front prop for 10K dollars....Lots of Americans go there and think it's cheap, well it is, but for CA is not not....

go to Nicaragua, it's really changing, in the neXt 10 years is going to be the new Costa Rica, everything is like 1/4 of the cost than in Costa Rica, and it looks just the same. The country is stable now, it's also the new surfing location for CA. Panama is an other place I would go to invest, a lot better than Costa Rica, for the same price...and Panama city is an awesome place..I wouldn't say the same of San Jose

Got anything on Belize?

Got anything on Belize?

Belize it's kind of undeveloped, connection to other parts of CA are bad, now one of the only two "airlines" got some ATRs but the rest of the flying is done VFR and single engine (cessna caravan), the weather in the summer can get pretty bad.

Land is cheap, you can buy your own island if you want.

When i use to live in Guatemala as a kid, we use to go to Belize a lot.
I would love to get a flying job there, most of the pilots ther are from Europe and Canada.

A big advantage over other CA and SA countries is beurocracy, things seem to work there, it's a really young country and the British left not long time ago. Just to give you an example, to take the Aviation Law exam, you show up at the CAA and you take it, here in Brazil where I live, it takes like two months to get it done.....
