Flying Car--very cool.

Sad that so many here are expressing dismay at a creative twist on an old idea. Aren't most of us supporters of aviation? Now I don't want to see every tom, dick, and harry flying around but I do like to see innovation. What if the pioneering aviators listened to all the naysayers?

Only time will tell how this idea will play out.

Its an S-LSA. You would need a sport pilot or better certificate with SEL privileges. Any CFI could teach in it, unless the FAA does something really dumb with the certifications.

You just know its gonna happen....

there will be a case where a guy is legal to fly and illegal to drive in one of those things and gets busted for driving illegally just after flying legally.

One of the main questions I have about the car is the landing gear on it. I am not saying I am terrible at landing, there are some amazing people at landing, but I don't know if a car suspension would be suitable for the forces of landing. On the other hand, I don't know if the car would be very drivable if the suspension was more tuned to that of an airplane.

I am not mechanic by any means, I am just kinda throwing the idea out there.

Here's another thing....

Its got turn signals!

Can you fly an LSA at night?

If so, you just know there is going to be somebody flying around with their turn signal on!

"(Orlando Tower): LSA N1234 cleared to land rw 07"
"(LSA) LSA N1234: cleared to land"
"(Student pilot) Orlando Tower, Cessna N5678 3 West full stop, student pilot"
"(Orlando Tower) Cessna N5678, Orlando Tower, follow traffic ahead of you, clear to land"
"(Student pilot) traffic in sight. He has his left turn signal on, should I turn left to?"
"(Orlando Tower) ::eek::dunno:

Or....

The will land with their turn-signal on, and will really annoy ground control...

Leading to new checklists:

"mags on. mixture rich, throttle in, turn signals off...."

:rotfl:
