Floyd...Whose it gonna be

Rumors have been flying of a new SWA city being announced in the next week or so. If it's SWA going into ATL, I'd be really surprised. They've been trying to target outlying cities in GA. 'Course I never thought they'd re-start service to DEN or start in PHL or PIT either.....

This has to do with Jville, nc ... not SWA going to Atl. In otherwords the news is for sure OAJ its just a matter of what the news is, and where the possible new airline might fly too.

I'm guessing ASA sends a CRJ or maybe a spare ATR (if it has the range) up there. I don't think they will see mainline service there any time soon, even with the new jetway they put in. We do about 3 RJs a day and a whole bunch of Dashes from CLT and a few from PHL now too. I've never seen anything but full in and out. Lots of military traffic too. The overnight is sort of crap though as it is a 30 minute+ drive. The hotel isn't too bad and there are places to eat, but the 30 minute van ride cuts into my sleep there.

The rumors are partially true and yet to be seen. THey cant get the Dh8s up in time so they had B1900s covering them. In sept CHQ will be using their Extra 135s to cover the flying. Beyond Sept is yet to be seen, but look for Freedom to be adding their Dh8s.

Wait... where did CHQ find extra 135s? Aren't they adding a whole new airframe to their certificate because they don't have any spares?

Wow - this is interesting!

I'm betting ASA - the pulled out before, and I'd bet that they're wanting their piece of the pie again!

I'm flying on a Mesa Dash 8 in october from DEN to Jackson Hole.

I am really pumped to fly a TProp for once and to ask the FO what he's been feeding himself with lately :)

Bring a video camera so I can watch him punch you square in the nose...

Also look up the definitions of politeness, tact, discretion, and common sense.

Unless Mesa outbids them and DAL gives them the flying. :)

Unless it's an EAS contract, a regional carrier does not bid on it. The mainline carriers call the shots. Hence, Mesa cannot underbid anyone unless we plain on going in there on our own ... which won't happen.

But they do underbid each other for a "block" of feed under which the mainline partner tells them where to go.....which Mesa/Freedom did that to Comair and CHQ in MCO, Comair in JFK, and ASA in ATL.

I bet that comment was based on the replacement of ASA with Freedom in ATL.

Right. That would be called capitalism. Our management team, evil as they are, comes up with a price for our product. It's what is submitted when ANY airline puts out an RFP. When DAL accepted MAG's RFP, it accepted it at a given price. So, any additionaly flying given to MAG is at that same price, not at something new. DAL decided where we needed to go, and it had nothing to do with us "underbidding" for a particular airport.
