Florida Tech

Okay, so today was a college mini fair at my high school which basically means the juniors and seniors get out of class for 30 minutes and talk to college representatives (sp?), etc.

So I see an airplane out of the corner of my eye, and talk to the guy, on and on about Florida Tech and this and that, and blah and blah..

So, I'm wondering.
Good/Bad? I hear its a small school..all pipers?

Give me all your stories, I need to pick a college but will most likely end up getting a major in something else than aviation related anything..

thanks, JC

I toured FIT. It has a very modern campus only a mile or two from the Atlantic Ocean. Their training fleet consisted of Piper Warrior III's for primary and I dont know what they had for advanced. The school is growing rapidly due to alumni money coming in. They offered me a hefty scholarship but I turned it down to fly at Purdue University (which I believe is a superior program). FIT would have been my second choice amongst aviation technology programs.

Florida Tech looks like it has a decent collegiate aviation program, I just finished about an hour's worth of research on the program.

There fleet looks rather new including new C-172 SP's, Piper Arrow's, Piper Seminole's, Decathlon, Piper Warrior's, Piper Chieftain for there Part 135 charter operation and a Cirrus SR 20. Training is provided at Melbourne International airport.

I am currently doing my aviation degree online but am moving to Florida soon so I might be transfering to Florida Tech to finish my Bachlor's.

Hey,

I'm currently a sophomore at Florida Tech, majoring in Aviation Management with Flight. I really have to say that I like the school a lot, and being a fellow Masshole I like the weather and beaches (what’s left of them) too. The flight line mostly consists of Warriors, Arrows are used for the complex training and Seminoles are used for multi. They also have a couple 172s, a 152 and a SR 20 that are used for "over the counter" flight training, or non-university training. As far as classes go I have been very impressed, all the professors are very knowledgeable in what they teach and all have decades of real life experience in what they teach. I'm sure you probably want to know more so I'd be happy to answer any questions that you or anyone else might have about the school.

Chris~

How's it going? My name is Aaron and I noticed that your an aviation student at FIT. That's cool cause I'm transferring there this January as a sophmore and will also be studying under Aviation Management with Flight option as well. Do you hold any certificates/ratings? The school seems rather on the small side, is that correct? But I guess in reality that could be a good thing. Are you involved in any greek life or any of the aviation organizations such as Alpha Eta Rho?

Aaron~

How do ya feel about florida tech? Im a freshman at ERAU in daytona and [censored] hate this program and am interested in transfering. Florida tech is high on my list. Tell me some more about it. How do you like it? how is Melbourne, caus daytona sucks.

Hey there~

I can't speak first hand on the program at Florida Tech but I've heard good things about it. I was going to Transfer there for the spring semester but had somethings come up. I have some friends that go to ERAU (DAB) and are flight students as well, opinions vary on there program.

In any event, I'm moving down to Melbourne in February for a job and will be flying at FIT aviation @ Melbourne. They have got new planes and the prices are very reasonable. Good Luck on your choice.

Aaron
