Florida Institute of Technology

No you cannot. I asked my instructors today.

If I had a dime for every time I had an instructor tell me something wrong, I'd not have loans to go to school. I can assure you that light sport time does indeed count towards a private certificate, an instrument rating and everything else you might want to obtain. I've got about 10 hours of light sport time, and its probably the most fun hours I've got (other than seaplane time). Care to inform us of where it says it can't be used towards a private?

The Pipers aren't going anywhere, relax. ;)

As far as dorms go, try to get into Columbia as a frosh.

What exactly did they tell you?

I encourage you to look at this material:

http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/sport_pilot/

Here are the parameters that define a LSA:

Consider this, A J-3 Cub could be considered an LSA since it meets these parameters. Can't you log time toward your private in a Cub?

Ask them that tomorrow and see what they say.

Nooo! Cause it's a tailwheel, and it's yeller, and old, and has a bear on the tail, and has a low HP engine, and its kind of a classic, and its yeller, and it tilts towards the tail for some reason while on the ground.

:)

Yeah I still can't figure out the tilt toward the tail business... I think its a glitch :laff:

Don't take your instructors advice man. You should consider it, yes, but look in the FAR's and all that to back things up.

You can get your PPL in a LSA. Why wouldn't you be able to? That would make no sense.

I would get the housing information in as soon as possible if you want to try to get into columbia. I am in columbia right now and I believe next year all but two of the buildings are reserved for freshman, but still get it in because you would much rather live in columbia than Roberts!

but like the others said, the greatest thing is flying other aircraft. Im sure Justin told you this in the PM but we are only replacing our very old warriors with the Remos and trust me, it is a good thing.

Yes it is a very good thing. :D

At least they wont have to worry about getting ride of 613FT :D

Some of those x-countrys in flight 2 with only a VFR plane were pretty fun!:nana2: You get a chance to fly the REMOS yet? I've seen them sitting on the ramp and they look a little tight inside for two people.

I am trying to get that sort out by the end of next week. How hard is it to get at this point of the year??

I'm not sure how Freshman housing goes, it was automatically assigned to us when I was a Frosh. Columbia was a lottery until full, then everyone else was put into the dorms.

General housing was done a couple weeks ago for upperclassmen, so I'm not sure. Check your Panther Pass for any information.

At $55,000 a year for flight at FIT, doesnt that seem kind of steep?

What courses did they say you could get done with that? Should be close to everything I would think. I dont see numbers for incoming freshman and its been almost 2 years since I finished the required stuff so my numbers are different.

Thats the cost for one year at FIT: 1 years tuition plus the 15k for first year flight costs and housing costs for one year.

That sounds about right then. It is expensive; no way to beat around that bush.

Did you get any scholorships? My tuition is only about 4 gs a semester (ha, only) because I was able to get a butt ton of scholorships. That is not including flight costs by the way.
