Anyone have any input on how good their program is? I am just wondering because i just got accepted there.
 
I can tell you how good(?) it was when I graduated in 1995. <cough>

On second thought you might want to talk to someone with better things to say. I'm sure a lot has changed in 15 years.
 
I have a friend whose there right now.

He's happy now, then again he's just a freshman so he hasn't been there for too long.
 
They have a completely new line of aircraft. Although, the only thing that worries me is that since the school is so small there might not be very good facilities. A great fleet is nothing without a good aviation building, aircraft simulators, and a competent teaching staff.

Can anyone shed some light on these issues?
 
After a bit of research, it seems like FIT has come a long way since you have been there. They just bought some TAA simulators, and they are unveiling a brand new aviation training building.

I am a CFI at FIT. PM me if you have any questions. From what I have read, We are moving into our new building Monday, We do have brand new aircraft while we still have a few older ones. When I say older, don't think they are junk because they aren't. Just not brand new. We have about 50 airplanes. It is a FUN play to learn how to fly.

How do they schedule the classes around the flying?
Is it easy to get employment at the school while on campus?
How is it instructing? :)

So has anyone seen the new "Emil Buehler Center for Aviation Training and Research" now that it opened today?
 
Is there a residence hall that the majority of the FIT flight students live in? I am just wondering since some universities have an "aviation floor".

It would be quieter at night when you have a flight at 6am. Other than that no reason I would see.

I also had a flight instructor who went there and taught there before teaching at my local fbo. Good guy and knew his stuff.
 
I am a freshman at FIT and so far I really enjoy it. We are in our new building and it is a TON better than the old building. So far I have been really pleased with the instruction I have received. I am doing instrument in our new glass warriors and we also have glass sims. No they do not have a separate residence hall for all the flight students, you just live on campus with everybody else. Highly recommend FIT, plus you can't go wrong with the flying weather down here! Can't beat 70 degrees in the middle of Feb. :D

Yes you can...when you live in the Caribbean.;) Anyway thanks alot for the information appreciate it.
 
Graduate '95 Sigma Cum Laude Aviation Management. The flight program was the worst aspect of the entire University. I would never, ever recommend flying there. The Department Head at the time could give two :panic::yup::mad: :crazy: about the students. They wanted your money to stay in business and screw you the rest of time. I would highly recommend you get your Private and then attend allatp like I did. Allatp gets a lot of flak but, it is the best option.

Sucks for you, but it seems like FIT has cleaned up the aviation department since you've been there.
