Cross Country KPGD to KMTH.

Just stopped there for fuel and headed back. Had some nice areas of heavy precipitation to get around so our time was short. Got to love those pop-up rain showers in Florida.Did you get a lobster reuben at the Key's Fishery while you were in MTH?
The waters around the Keys are actually very shallow, averages around 3 ft. So if you ditch, you can stand on the wing and be dry.I'm planning on flying my sister down to KMTH from KTMB, any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated as I've never flown over open water like that. Gorgeous pictures though!
Done this trip at night as well. Altitude is a good friend. Cruising 5,500 - 6,500 going and coming back. We usually hug the shore line and limit as much over the water flying as possible. Definitely a fun trip, but it does make you think about potential emergency situations.I look back on a lot of the flights I did to MTH from SUA and realize how absolutely crazy I was to fly over the Everglades and the Bay of Florida at 3000 feet in a clapped out C172... a night. Nice scenery though, as long as you keep the 3000 foot perspective.
