Exploring the world one toilet at a time.
Is anyone currently with FWC or know someone who is a pilot with FWC? Just received a call for an interview. Looking for any info about the FWC. Thanks in advance.

What's your TT?

I don't know much about FWC but I think it's gotta be a different kind of job. definitely something new!

How did you apply? I looked on the website and did not see anything. Being a Florida born and raised cracker I would love a job with the FWC... My uncle retired there a few years ago as a law enforcement officer. I know he really loved his time there.

The posting only required commercial with instrument in either ASEL, AMEL, or rotorcraft with 500 hours.

It was a posting on the State of Florida website last month. I think it has since been removed from the site.

My infos are a little bit out of date ( 2006 ). I used to fly a C208B out of TLH and one day meet the chief pilot for the FWC. ( I do not know the jetcareers rules as far as posting someone name but I still have CP business card with all the contact infos if he still is the CP ).
To make the story short you have to become a FWC officer and go throught the academy ( same as cop training + FWC specific ) then in function of the need I was told that they like you to be on the ground for a year before you go to the flying unit ( but I had the feeling that if they needed somebody right away you might up end sooner in the flying unit ).
You will be base in function of seniority ( probably South Florida ). If you are a fixed wing after a year they will train you on the rotary wing and vice-versa. At the time they had some 182 ( night vision googles ), a patavia some kind of a small twin but with a buble glass window ( like a R22 ), float plane and different kind of helicopters.

Go to www.myfwc.com to look for the requirement to be admitted for FWC officer.

Hope this help.

I spoke with a member of FWC who is in my guard unit in Miami. They're looking for guys that can also pass their initial physical exam thtat's required for all officers. I am not familiar with the standards, but I hear it's pretty strict compared to the rest of FL. My guess is they will probably be looking for guys with their ATP since there's a lot of young ex-military pilots here in S. Florida but best of luck to whoever applies. FWC is a good organization to work for.
