The airlines mostly require 500hrs cross country. All the instructors I've talked to have said that's the hardest requirement to fill.
It got knocked down to 200 hrs xc with the R-ATP reqs

Yes I did. And I was offered the deal. However, it would be tough for me to relocate to that area with my wife. That sucks, man. Sorry to hear that. Did you apply to Sierra yet? A one year contract with them isn't really too bad honestly. Plus I think the pay might be higher there too, IIRC.
You also get 1000tt right? I don't have a degree from an "aviation" institutions haha. That's good for you though. X country time is harder to get for low timersIt got knocked down to 200 hrs xc with the R-ATP reqs

I have family in Denver that I can rent a studio from if I worked for lakes
It's sad...but it really seems like lakes will be my best option. At least I do not need much money. No home loan. No car payment. Student loans in deferment for a while. And even though lakes pays $16ish per hour and 75 guaranteed hours, most pilots I've talked to are flying closer to 100hrs per month due to them being short pilots. And the way it works is all over time pay for the above 75 mark. So take home pay is closer to $1800 after tax according to a guy I know there.
Thanks. Same to you. I'm still exploring options. I would really like to get my cfi. And I plan to when I can afford it. But the wife has options in Denver for good income work. So if I can tough it out at lakes for a year or so then maybe it will be worth it. I only have an interview though...so that option may even fall through lol. Although, I couldn't imagine it would take much to impress lakes nowadays haha.Ah, well that puts things in a new light. One way or another you have to do what you have to do. If GLA is the best option for you, then go for it. Good luck and hopefully everything works out.![]()

That's a bummer. But you meet the req now any way, so that's good!Oh I've got the 500 hrs XC. I busted my balls to get it instructing and two weeks later they changed it to the new reduced minimums.
@Cloud Surfer oh ok cool, let me know what you decide, I may see you down there. My worse fear is washing out of stands honestly.
Ya it's a tough spot to be in. But I'm still weighing options.@rausda27 Yes i've definitely been studying the maneuvers, @jgheggie I had a buddy text me today about Great Lakes, good luck, I think it'll make a great gig to get some time, and get out of there,I told him I can't do it, from what I see there still isn't any pay during training, unless somethings changed.
