Does anyone have this headset? I'm looking at getting myself an ANR and this seems to fit the bill.

Please post what you know about it..

I have these headsets, and let me say, they are money well spent. Definetely one of the best headsets I've used. They are also uber comfortable and easy on the ears.
 
I flew with a Denali headset for about 30 hours and it was very comfortable. The only complaint I've heard is with the durability. I had a friend who broke the plastic headband on his Denali headset after a couple years, but I think Flightcom repaired or replaced it.

I currently have 700 hours on a Classic ANR model from Flightcom and have been very happy with it. No problems at all. It uses the same ANR circuitry as the Denali line and is very quiet.

Sure, I suppose. I had been looking at David Clarks, but their ANR is quite expensive (13.4XL is over $600). I've heard that Lightspeed's ANRs are good, but I don't know about how huge they appear to be. Seems like the earcups stick out the side of your head a looooong ways.
 
I'm a big D-C fan. Tough, well-built equipment with top-notch customer service.

I bought a set of DC-13X ANR's about ten years ago from a pilot who was moving up to jets and didn't think he needed them anymore - good luck for me, not so much for him, maybe.

Take a look on E-Bay and search for "David Clark 13x*". They have been selling for $375 to $450. They may not be under warranty, but you can still enjoy the great D-C service and top quality product.
 
Well, I ordered a Graphite Blue ANR, should come in this week. I'll have a great opportunity to test it out and write a detailed review of it this weekend, on a 1000 mile-one-way trip.

Hey, Jonathon, just a question about your sig... Is it supposed to scare people by implying that just because all Web browsers since the beginning of Internet pass certain, innocuous client variables such as operating system version and browser type to the server that you can hack my computer? A little misleading, don't you think?

(If you just think it's cool that those variables are there, then no problem.)

BTW, good choice on the headset. I've had my Denali for 2 years and now I use it in the ERJ. You wont be disappointed.

You can't hack much unless you know what the exploits on the OS are actually. Off the top of my head, if you were running a Linux box on it with CUPS running there is a pretty easy buffer overflow hack if you don't lock down CUPS. Otherwise XP has a built in firewall and I'm sure there are ways around it, such a thing doesn't do much to really allow somebody to hack into your box because you're the only person seeing it; not the person who has that in their signature.

No, I just thought it was cool how it showed all the info. No hacking crap in mind.....


You said you used it in the ERJ, is the Denali II TSO'd?
 
Yeah, Im well aware (been an Internet programmer since 1992), but a sig like that almost resembles some spam or other sites that you see that really ARE trying to scare people into buying the latest shareware spam blocker or hack blocker, etc--"We're watching you!". One of the lines of his sig says something to effect of, now give me your bank statements, and another says, and I've got alot of time on my hands, both implying that with that rudimentary information, you're at risk for hacking right now!

My point was to simply point out that if the intent is to scare people, I think that type of message is irresponsible. At the least, even as a joke, I believe that message is probably inappropriate simply because it does scare people, but I admit, when I first found that info, it was pretty cool that you could see that about your visitors, too..

I didnt mean to make a big thing of this, Im obviously too uptight about it. Im guessing Doug is about to flush this conversation down the lav anyway.

I have no clue. I use the original denali. I just plugged it in and it worked great and Im happy.

THe denali ANR are awesome. Probably the most comfortable headset I have ever used. I also own a pair of the Lightspeed 20xl. THey are a lotcheaper. but if you have the money, the Denalis are worth it.
 
I bought a used classic denali anr about 8 months ago and I love it. I just replaced the old ear seals and headpad with the leather upgrade that they had and it works great for me. IMO the best part about the headset is how light it is so you don't really notice it on those long 8 hour days. But at the same time the only negative I can think of is that it seems a bit more delicate compared to my old david clark. Either way i'm satisfied with it.
