It was 10 years ago, but I did all but two of my ratings at a club. Financially, in my case, it was the best way to go.

I really wish I had known about flying clubs and fractional ownerships when I started flying. Probably could have saved tons of dough, but a college degree really helped me out later in life.

Those rates seem high. My local club charges $112 tach (~$90 Hobbs) for the 172 and $82 (~$66) for the 152. Initiation is $200 and monthly dues are $42.

No, it's at LEX. I'm not a member, but they have a stellar reputation. Visit their site, it will give you an idea of what you should look for in a club.
