2 questions here:
1) Who needs to ship 750 spiders at once by plane?
and 2) If there's 750 of these guys readily available in Baltimore, how rare can they be?

not to get in the way of a good bit of hysteria, but don't tarantulas not typically bite? Could be totally off on that one, but for some reason that sticks out in my mind. Meanwhile, we have a ginormous black widow (like cartoonishly large with equally cartoonish budweiser stamp) stuck between the back door and screen door outside the living room. I may just try and starve it out, rather than confront it.

Pics or it didn't happen. ;)

They will bite when cornered or threatened. As for the bite, it feels like a bee sting. Hurts for only a few minutes. Yes, I have been bitten by one. Roommate in college had one. We used to terrify the knobs with it!

I'm slowing losing my arachnophobia, but I would lose my sh*t if I opened my suitcase and had a couple tarantulas waiting for me.

I have finally started letting the spiders in my backyard live, and do what they do best, eat bugs. However, when I run into one of their webs when mowing the yard this happens:

Agreed, over time my arachnophobia has gotten much much better..I can finally kill a spider. Although there's this huge black widow in my backyard that I do not know what to do about.

Spiders are creepy as hell.

They're creepy because of evolution. The ones that weren't creeped out by spiders got eventually bitten and killed by venomous arachnids.

The stronger humans, the ones that developed a heavy evolutionary fear of spiders were the stronger sort and moved on to reproduce.

The people that aren't afraid of spiders are evolutionary anomalies.

Darwin still waits… patiently.

Funny as hell. I don't get people who keep tarantulas as pets. It's an arachnid with more hair than any human and it's big enough to have audible footsteps. I know they supposedly make great pets but my creepy-detector goes off the charts and all reason flies out the window. KILL EM ALL.
