Saw it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Gotta hand it to Denzel, he did a great job.
Washington does admit that Flight was partly an obligation happily fulfilled to a departed friend.

"My agent, the late Ed Limato, the last two scripts he gave me were Safe House and Flight. That was part of it, just a promise I made to him. And when I read the material, I just said, 'Wow, this is good.' "

Saw it today, Agree that the storyline is more of an individual dealing with addiction and how far it has to go before people accept change. The flying sequences with Denzel was very well done. I cant say the same for the FO and his role. It is obvious that they were using his character to add tension and excitement in the cockpit but any FO at that level wouldnt react that way (I think). All in all, the movie was well worth an afternoon in the dark and I find that most anything with Denzel Washington is going to be well done.

Just saw it, well done on the aviation aspect of it.

But since when does the captain do the walk around? especially in the rain lol

It was a little long towards the end but I enjoyed it as well. Denzel put in 100% as always.

I do about 40% of the walk arounds on every trip unless the FO is super sneaky and manages to get out the door before I can. It gives me time to stretch my legs a bit and get some fresh (ish) air.

I actually just flew with a guy who liked to do the walkarounds, even in the rain. Hey, he's the Captain...I'll be upstairs sipping my coffee. :)

Years ago I was on a Mainline jumpseat and the FO was just off of IOE. It was the crew's first leg and the captain was explaining to the FO that if the weather was nice it was his job to do the walk around and if the weather was bad the Captain would get the walk around. The new guy was really impressed with this until the captain pointed out that in 35 years of flying he still hadn't seen a bad weather day.

This was also the captain who included in his brief that there was one FO and one crash ax on board and he didn't plan on using either one that day.

My wife kept asking me can he do that can he do this? I wouldn't know going inverted but isn't there speed limits below 10.000 feet 8-) he was going around 300...

It was a great movie. Denzel did a very good job. By far his best movie in years. Of all the aviation related movies Ive seen, this is definitely one of the best. Of course as pilots we are gonna pull the "pffft, there aren't really falangees on airplanes" My wife was really getting annoyed with that btw but the movie was good enough that I forgave those little technical aspects of it.
