Sims do run 24/7 but a lot of the time there are hours of idle periods, especially for some types of sims. For example when I was in Wichita the Caravan and Mustang sims were running full tilt but there were empty XLS sims. The main thing is knowing either a sim instructor or sim tech and being open to having your sim experience broken up into say 30 minute segments rather than the traditional 2 hour blocks.
