flight schools in orlando/lake mary area

hey peoples. im non revving down to mco later today needless to say i havent flown in about 3 months and would like to take a lesson while im down in florida for a few days. im basically looking just to go up once to see orlando from the air do a couple of touch and goes and go home, mark it down as dual recieved in my little blue book.
can anyone of my fellow jcers recommend any place in that area where i can achieve this, oh by the way they have to let my father ride in the back i know my flight school has no problem with this but from what i understand some do.

Air Orlando at ORL was always good to me, both when I did my private at ORL in 1996-97 and after the ATA fiasco in 2003.

I didn't train at Air Orlando but had an inop aircraft on the day of my private checkride. Air Orlando checked me out that morning (quickly) and had a plane ready and available for my checkride.

I assume there are some other small shops at SFB (a little closer) that could offer a hassle-free experience.
 
Doug and I liked Air Orlando when we used one of their planes for a flight. but they're located at the orlando municipal airport.
 
Avion is very nice; most of the 172's are 180 hp and they are $83/hr including the recent fuel surcharge. It is next to DCA, so just follow the signs to DCA.

The 180hp 172's are much more fun to fly than 160hp; they are lighter than the new SP's and with 3 aboard you will probably still see 900-1000 fpm climb. Quality of instruction has been excellent in my experience; they are very professional.

SFB can get pretty busy, especially in the mid afternoon when the heavies come in from Europe; they have to close the center runway when they come in and it can get exciting. Its a great place to train... you'll learn alot if you've never been in a busy environment before.
 
I put my vote in for Air Orlando as well. From the moment I first walked in the place my jaw dropped and I felt at home. I can't say the same for Avion (I investigated both places). I had a few students who would drive the extra 30 minutes or so to come to ORL rather then go to Avion in Sanford (me included, I lived down the street from Avion and chose to drive the extra 30+ minutes 5 days/week because of the environment and equipment!).

If that's not a testament, I don't know what is

. Air Orlando was hit hard by the 4 hurricanes but they're on track now. They've got excellent CFI's and equipment. Also, they're right downt he street from MCO.

Another vote for Air Orlando. I've gotten all of my ratings there, and the instruction is top notch. I'm heading back down to ORL in a few weeks to knock out everything from Commercial - CFI ratings with them, and hopefully I can get hired on as an instructor there.
 
I don't have any experience with Air Orlando, but I have rented from Avion a couple times and been very happy.
 
Hey guys thanks for the info i ended up going with avion as tenney had suggested. went up for about an hour with a good intructor headed out to new smyrna beach hung out there for a little did some slow flight with a ground speed of about 8 kts did a couple of nice crosswind touch and goes and thats about it. now my question is since i did not have my logbook with me am i able to log that in my self or do i need to have the intstructors signature like i have with all of my other entries?

all in all a great time was fun to be up again and my first time using carb heat oooohhh i looked at the primer and was like WTF. lol
 
Well I guess will now be useful to me also. I'm thinking of going to UCF (University of Central Florida) after graduating hs. Maybe then we can make a little meet, huh?
