This place is 1st class all the way. The facilities and aircraft are excellent as well as their sims. I visited this place once and was very impressed, not only with the environment, but also with the management--very professional. Long Island is an Expensive place to live though.

I second that-- what a great school and the management and academic professors are super helpful. Kind of wish I had gone there, but it didn't work out.

i graduated from this school and it really is top notch... great place to work ... i think they are always hiring. well run, good pay, nice aircraft, in house maintenance, and its a relatively small school which keeps it personal.

Sounds like a nice place. Being from Upstate NY, I can tell you that lving on LI is EXPENSIVE. Shirley is almost in the Hamptons. Whatever they pay, I hope they offer housing. I have a buddy that is ATC for NY Center on LI. He lives in a 900 Sq. Ft Condo in a gated community and it cost him $300K. Ouch.

its about 20 an hour to start for the instructors plus benefits (medical and college classes). your friend who worked for center was complaining about 300k for a condo? last year at that new york center over 50 people made over 200 grand a year... i doubt he is crying broke. it was probably a real nice condo ... i dont know why you wouldnt buy a house. you can still find small houses for 250-300 out here.

Oh yeah he makes well over 200K a year. He is certainly comfortable.

The point is, someone at 20 an hour probably would not be.

Why is it that controllers make more than pilots?

I find this kind of ironic and think it's bullsh*t, but that's just me.

because they work a lot harder, are much more stressed, and work like a dog to make that $200k?

oh, and I do believe the FAA wants them to take a 30% paycut...and being government workers they can't do much about it.

I think controllers earn every dime they make. Keep in mind that not all of them make that much. It depends on which part of the country and their airspace (ie - TRACON, Center, tower, etc...)
