Flight Instructors Needed - $30 per hour

The Washington International Flight Academy (www.learntoflydc.com) is looking for flight instructors.

Pay is $30 per flight or ground instruction hour. (two months free lodging at our dorms for those moving from out of state!)

Qualifications:

300 Hours total time.

CFI, CFII (MEI preferred)

We are hiring due to attrition. 4 instructors have hit their 1500 hour mark and are moving on to Shinier, Jettier things and I need to hire replacements!

If you want to work at a school where the Chief Pilot has got your back, at a flight school who doesn't just wait for students to walk through the door but actively advertises and a place that will pay you fairly (as opposed to certain un-named schools in FL who pay $11-16 per hour), this is it!

Send your resume (no cover letter please) to: ben@learntoflydc.com

Please ONLY apply if you can work full time and have no issues working in Maryland.

Cheers!

Ben

What kind of hours do your instructors typically fly? Given the name Washington International Flight Academy would I be correct in assuming most of your students are foreign nationals?

In the winter they normally fly around 30-50 hours per month in the summer it jumps up to 80-100.

Yes the word "International" is in there (when we renamed three years ago I was against it, too many syllables!) but most of our students a locals.

I almost want to apply just because you have the phrase, "Shinier, Jettier things" in your job ad!

LOL... just my sense of humor! I got two leaving to the airlines, one leaving for a Citation gig and the other for a Cheyenne gig.

By chance is that the Beech-outfit-that-shall-not-be-named?

I'd love to come fly in DC (where I grew up), but not sure I could convince the lady to come along!

Do you still have a maximum amount of hours you'll take someone with (I seem to remember 700 TT last time you were hiring)?

Are you still looking for instructors? You got me at the free dorm for out of state. As a straight out of college grad, this sounds pretty great.

At this point I need CFII's. In the past I have hired only CFI's and then found myself swamped with IFR students with no one to teach them.

Would you ever considering a weekend warrior part timer? I predict a 2-3 year sentence in the DC five-sided PowerPoint factory may be in my future....

This obviously doesn't help you at the moment, but I'm local and currently trying to finish my CFI with a school at HEF. Hopefully that'll be in the next month or so, so if you foresee a need for more people this summer, I'd definitely be interested.

Heck, if I could get my CFI done quicker, I would make the drive from Woodbridge.
