flight express??

Read up on here about what to expect in training. Alot of pilots show up on the first day and are surprised by an instrument written test. Fail and you go home. There are plenty of ex-FLXers on JC.
I resent that comment. There are plenty of CURRENT FLXers on JC. Hope things are going well for your d.

My bad dude. Almost forgot your still there livin the dream. If I were in your shoes living at home working at FLX I'd retire from there. I tried convincing Ernst to set up a run out of Detroit for me, it didnt work.

This. Guess he didn't mention that at the interview.

No no no.... if you despise a company why would you interview and waste not only their time but your own... I mean you already know that you don't like the company so why go through the effort to apply and then interview if you aren't at all interested?

Because you have to eat. Everyone is a Hero of the Profession till they don't have a Yob, then they get real humble.

PS. FLX is a hard, often thankless Yob, but you can trust the people who make the decisions there. You press the buttons and they sign the checks. Never treated anything but Right by them. That shouldn't be a rarity, but it kind of is. You could do a lot worse.

Well I think the poster made it quite obvious as they are taking the job at FLX over CJC because they despise CJC.... I think FLX is a pretty dang good company... get to chat with them late at night quite a bit. I can agree with you on being humble but one doesn't necessarily have to not work at all while waiting for a flying job... lord knows I have done my fair share of welding and landscaping when I have been out of a flying job.

Just to clarify my previous post - I despise COLGAN not Flight Express - I am looking forward to the flight express training.

Going to the Colgan purely for the interview experience and to see how I stack up - it's an experience and wisdom comes from experience. I have almost zero intention of working for Colgan because you are more likely to win the lottery than find anybody who will say a positive thing about the way that company is run.

But it is an airline, and i've never interviewed for an airline. So i'm researching and increasing my knowledge-base. If anybody thinks that's a waste of time then I respectfully disagree.

Pt135 Cargo has been a goal of mine for a while. I not only look forward to Fl.Express but intend on excelling in that groundschool. If top score gets to pick their base then that is my goal. I am not afraid of early/late hours, hard-work or interfacing with customers - believe it or not but this will probably be LESS stressful than where I am right now (not a joke).

If it is true that you are rewarded for doing your job on time, efficiently and without complaint then I know I will excel here. My interactions with the company so far have been positive and their training material is written pretty much the exact same way I would have written it - honest, concise, no-sugar coating. If I can be a cog in this company for a while and get 135 experience and more money than the paltry sum Colgan is 'offering' then I will be happy.

I look forward to this new step.

By the way -
- What is this '6 pack' everyone is talking about - is it an update to the DA42's G1000 GFC700 with artificial terrain?? (joke)
- RMI - er.....RAIM....Monitoring....er.....Indicator? right guys....right?! (another joke)
- Finally - Dispatch will tell you your relative bearing too right? (end of jokes...for now)
Wish me luck people.

Yeah, we need to chat. :sarcasm:

Anybody answer a couple questions:

1) I know ground-school runs 7-10 days + 2-3 days of flying, does this run consecutively? Or do we still get the weekend off?

2) Is anybody at flight express able to give the High-Performance Endorsement as I do not currently have this, but obviously the 210 is high-performance?

Thanks

You usually get the weekend off but if they need to get pilots on the line then yes they will.

Yes the 210 is High Performance and no they won't give it to you.

Thanks

The HP endorsement is required but back in 2006 it was also required and the CP gave me mine. Was not a deal breaker for me just be upfront about it.

I hate to go off topic but when is a HP endorsement required?

Does an FO flying a transport catagory aircraft require one? Does the captain?

Reason I ask is I know quite a few people who dont have it yet fly single pilot 135 in metro's etc. I was told it wasnt required at all.

Thanks - I was upfront, found out last night that FE can take care of it. Which is nice as it saves me about $250.

Start Monday - see you there if anybody is also going.
