Flight Express 210 Pilot

I hate lap dogs. I tried killing them but moved to AK instead. Looking back on it, I should have stayed at FLX.

LOL. Lap dogs are pretty useless. I never did see the point of them. Although apparently they are now the new accessory for women, just like a purse. Poor things.

It's funny because apartment complexes normally have a weight max for dogs, generally 25 lbs. But the small dogs are the ones that bark and poop/pee in the apartment. Big dogs know better.

Oh, I see. What, were you just waiting to see how long it took me to figure out that you are uh, you? Sorry Alaska didn't work out but we're running short of redneck pilots anyway, and I never much liked the look of all that automation...

No kidding. My wife and I must have looked at at least a dozen apartments before we found one that would accept our black lab. Hardly ever hear a peep out of her, but everywhere we have lived, the little dogs yapped day and night.

Is this company still hiring? I'm considering quitting my current job and going here. I've got just a hair over 1200 and about 200 multi. It seems as of the past few months, there has been a few furloghs/layoffs around the industry, I'm just curious if this has effected flight express as well.

I took over from the guy that lived in the FBO. It was a great run when I was doing it. Averaged around 60 hrs. month. I would have stayed but the girl I was living with decided to start buying lap dogs that did nothing but bark and ####. I hate lap dogs. I tried killing them but moved to AK instead. nothing a trash bag and a brick couldnt handle!

nbv4: I don't think we're anywhere near the level of bad where FLX isn't hiring. Call and ask. 800OPSKORL ext. 613. Great job, provided you know what you're getting in to.

He lived in the FBO because he's the kind of guy who would, is the best way I can explain it. Schedules vary wildly. Some of them are fun, some less so. Money is actually one of the best (maybe the best) in the market segment. The pay structure rewards in particular those who don't mind long days (which does not necessarily indicate lots of "work").

Do they normally overnight anywhere, say, if based out of ORL? What are the odds of getting ORL off the bat anyway? And lastly, is this just overall not a place to make a career? just curious is all.

No overnights, unless a plane breaks. Even then, very, very rare. If travel is your thing, you can usually pick up some TDY work to the less, uh, "appreciated" bases if you're so inclined. Decent hotels, rental car if you wrangle for (and need) it, plus per diem (not much).

ORL tends to go senior as far as I remember, but you never know. Pretty much any base is possible out of training, just depends on who quit that week and whether anyone else has bid it. Regardless, you with two or three months seniority, you should be able to bid most any (210) run that opens up as the guys who've been around longer than that are usually where they want to be.

There are a few guys who have made a career out of it, or at least spent 5+ years doing it. Not many. If you aren't wedded to six figures and a 777, it's not a bad way to earn a decent-but-not-spectacular living, particularly when you get a low flight time/high duty time run in a base you want to be in. I sat on a run that was ~2 1/2 hours of flying in a baron with a 13 1/2 hour duty day for about 6 months longer than I really needed to to move on, and took a pay cut to move to bigger equipment. It can be pretty cush if you're on the right run. That said, in the beginning, you'll probably be flying a fair amount. It's not horrible, but you'll be tired when you get home. Another thing to consider vis a vis making it a career is that check flying isn't going to last forever. IF they stay in business, the company will almost certainly change substantially.

Good luck.
