Flight Dispatch course

Hello!

I have always been an aviation enthusiast. I have a background in civil engineering and worked for several years in the field, as well as in software development applied to civil engineering. However, for personal reasons, I never had the opportunity to work directly with aircraft.

Currently, I teach IT at a high school, and despite being 61 years old, I am asking myself whether I should get a flight dispatcher license and work in the field for 3 or 4 years just to make my dream come true.

Please give me your honest opinion, even if it is not what I want to hear—it is welcome regardless.

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards

I completely changed my career a couple years ago and happy I did. Its fun and rewarding being apart of the flights we fly on. Highly recommend it, and its never to late. I've heard someone at on of the major airlines had his 50th work university this year dispatching and when asked if he likes it, he said "I love dispatching"

Are you in a metro area that has a regional airline headquarters, and/or are you willing to move for a job? I had to move to get experience.
