So I find myself searching youtube for some videos of the flight deck and come across this gem:

I honestly miss my time on the carrier. It was the best year I had in the Navy....

Returned yesterday from a 48 hour visit on board the USS Harry S Truman as a "DV". It was amazing. The COD certainly isn't the sexiest, but it's super fun to fly on and off the ship!

Will be posting tons of pics and a big write up over the next couple days.

Seriously, you did 1 year on a cruise ship with mostly good ports, and you say it's what you make of it?? LOL:beer:

I got to Rota, Spain 27 Sep 1997, partied like a Rock Star, and met the ship which had been on a "booze cruise through the Med". Stayed at sea for 1 month, and hit Puerto Rico on the way home.

We did a "Med/Gulf cruise", which we pulled into Barcelona, Spain for our first port of call. Captain gets on the 1MC and says enjoy Barcelona, we are going to the Gulf after this, since our sister ship ran aground. Ended up in Qatar, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi a few times, even got the pleasure of Djoubouti City, Djoubouti (sp?). Hit Greece on our way out, and went home. This is along with numerous workups.

I transferred off the ship, which was getting underway for a month on 9/11/01 at 0845 in the morning. They were going on cruise 2 months later...to the gulf again. 1 hour later and I probably would have been on there for a while longer.

I had a good time, but small boy sailing is much different...especially when you are there for 4 years!!;):bandit:
 
Cool video! My first time on an aircraft carrier, when I was an NROTC midshipman, was on the Kitty. Went from Sydney to Guam in the summer of '05.....great time!
