I've had my old flight case for over 5 years now and due to being on reserve for most of that time and deadheading more than I fly (and our silly rule that flight cases have to be gate checked and can't come in the cabin on a deadhead), it was time for a new one.
The old flight case and the box with the new one
The old flight case (with the NRS and Gaia Ultimate Frisbee stickers looking kind of faded)
The bottom of the old flight case which was held together by speedtape (thanks MX guys!) for about 6 months.
The inside of the old flight case
Smells like cow
I've been saving up stickers for a few months now. On this side we've got a sticker for tehe San Diego Surf School, SteepAndCheap.com and Backcountry.com
On this side is an ALPA sticker, a In-n-Out Burger sticker (I liked their old one more) and a Giro Helmet sticker. I still need a stick of crazy glue to reattach my oldschool PSA Smiley Face sticker
STUFF
1. Luggage Works Flight Case (my other one lasted 5+ years. Worth the $300 if you ask me)
2. Sunshades. Our planes used to not have any so I'd bring my own. Now they mostly do.
3. Cool headset case my mom made me a few years ago.
4. Cheap, $15 sunglasses so I don't feel bad if they break or if they get lost.
5. Telex 750 headset. $80 bucks on Ebay. I want the 850... maybe someday.
6. Jepp enroute charts. I use them once every 6 months or so.
7. 2 Jepp binders with all the plates for places we go. We don't go very many places.
8. The July 30th Jepp update. I probably should put it in my binders soon.
9. Cute puppy dog folder I use to put company memos and what not in.
Also the following three things normally go in the folder:
10. Weight list for passengers (winter/summer kids/adults) and bags for use when ACARS is out and we have to do a paper w&b form.
11. Contract. VERY important to carry and know.
12. Passport. We only do 1 international destination (Freeport) so it's mostly a waste to carry. I use it commuting a bunch though for CASS access.
13. Walmart Brand glass cleaner for the CRT screens. I wish people would stop actually touch the screens with their grubby fingers.
14. Sunblock. Gots to haves it!
15. Hand sanitizer which I use as a backup if we are out of wetwipes in the plane.
16. Headlamp. For walkarounds or emergency loss of power situations. A hold over from when I was a CFI.
17. Spare Take off and Landing data cards.
18. Glow stick. For emergencies or disco parties.
19. Highliter. When I wasn't on reserve (years ago...) I would select good lines to bid with this.
20. My rubber duck, Tuk Tuk.
21. Tide Pen. Don't leave home with out it. Eating in the plane can be messy.
22. Mini Bocce Ball set. Something to do on those 3 hour sits.
23. Gorilla Legs tripod for my camera. Used only about 10,000...
24. Spare crew tag for my bag in case the rampers rip the other one off.
25. Mini Med Kit: band aids, cold/flu stuff, stomach stuff, etc...
26. Instant Oatmeal and tea bags.
27. Flash cards with CRJ systems and limitations
28. Ear plugs for deadheading on Dash8s
29. Road Atlas (with VORs and Airways on it) so I don't get lost.
30. (not shown) point and shoot camera (used only above 10,000 obviously)
Somehow it all fits
